Aside from aload of internet, and interface crap.

Another interesting snippet was confirmation that you’ll be able to use a keyboard and mouse with PS3, enabling you to easily browse the web on your telly.

Assuming that you can actually plug your mouse and keyboard in for internet use you, dont see why you cant use it for games ...?


NOT IM NOT SAYING ANYTHING ABOUT THE XBOX360 OR WII SO DONT BRING THAT INTO THIS THREAD

because online gaming would be unfair for those who don't have the keyboard/mouse advantage. for example, just think about how unbalanced the keyboard/mouse people and the non-keyboard/mouse people would be in an online FPS like unreal or BF2.

haha yea, but there will always be those people who can't afford it and it would make people have unfair advantages.

Some people can't afford Logitech G7s for their PCs. Does that mean that anyone who plays online has to have an inspector come round their house and make sure they don't have an 'unfair advantage?'

haha, no. if you have ever tried playing a FPS, stratagy, or MMO on a console with a console controller, and then tried playing the same games on a computer, you will know what i am talking about.

So there are people out there who can afford a $599 PS3 but can't afford to go out and buy a USB mous/keyboard? .... I don't think so.

Or you know you can just use the controller. Get a fucking computer if you want to these things. Upgrade the one your on now for christ sakes.

obviously if consoles were made for keyboards they wouldn't use a controller.

i've used console controllers for every type of game. its not that hard. using a key board & mouse is ok but i like thumbsticks better. gives you an advantage if you know how to think in a game. if you get the drop on someone then you'll most likely kill them because you out-thought the other guy.
cool feature for a console though, sending messages woud be easier, places where you have to put in passwords, names etc.

when it comes to "looking around" in a game, the mouse beats the thumbstick hands down. it's way more accurate, quick and easier to use. also, when it comes to more complex games like BF2 and any stratagy game, hotkeys become absolutely ESSENTIAL. on a controller, it is impossable to have that option. not everyone will have a keyboard/mouse for the PS3. sony knows this and that is most likely why they haven't said anything concerning the keyboard/mouse option for playing the games. only for surfing the web.

The argument that Consoles and Pc's are completely differnet is slowely dissapearing, the gap between them is closing and fast.

Secondly, you say that the PS3 is going to be unfair due to controllers v keyboards. However did you know Microsoft is going to actually bridge the gap between Consoles and Pcs by allowing both to play each other ... now that is unfair (the games quake wars btw)

i cant imagine it being comfortable sittin on a sofa with a desk infront of it to play games on your tv
doesnt seem practical
