View Full Version : Why didn't you buy an xbox360? Or why wont you buy Ps3

My main reason. Fucking joypads. I'll take a keyboard and mouse over that shit any day of the week. I know ps3 has the option for kb and mouse, but it wont be good. And games wont be based around it.

Xbox 360 will probably have an additional hardware piece you can buy. But it will suck. I bought a joyfrag adapter that lets you use a mouse and keyboard on the old xbox. It worked, but not good. The control of it was very choppy and was hard to be accurate in shooters.

Pc is still the choice for the hardcore online gamer. xbox 360 for the kiddiez who don't know any better.

I won't buy either, mainly because I'm into the PC genre now. I like first person shooters, and it's just personal preference to play them on a PC for me. A PC seems more "free" to me, because there are so many choices for upgrading, etc.

I would buy more PC games if I didn't have to upgrade my hardware every year. Besides, the pc games load like shit for me.

PC has great games like Civilization, Sim City etc. But the loading bites, especially for online.

im tossing up getting a geforce 7900 512MB, or a ps3.

The Xbox360, dont get me wrong its a good console, however its just a more powerful Xbox, plus most the games havnt 'wowed' me. Wait. i played some ping pong game ... that fucking pwned, however if i wouldnt like to actually own it, much better for a game to play round somones house.

The Wii, i would get one if it made games that werent for kids. Seriously imagine using that controller to smash someones skull in with a baseball bat, oh and its slow processor doesnt allow for much in the games i play. (Red Steel Doesnt have blood so no one go oooo red steel is good).

PS3 has the power i need, however yea its a bitch to buy.

Honestly, Choosing in short. Is going to suck. I can't decide. I'm not going to say one is better then the other. If I pick one, I'm going to miss out on a lot one way or another. I really want to play the Wii, Because it looks so mega dam fun. But I know I'll miss out on a lot of fun games etc.

PS3, Or Xbox360!

exactly. when you buy a console, you know you will be able to play a whole bunch of games for the next fex years without having to spend extra cash.

anyone who wines about not beeing able to use a keyboard and mouse on a console should stay away from them as far as possible. Seems like you want to start a consoles vs pc war by mentioning that the Xbox360 is for kiddiez who don't know any better? I happen to own a Xbox360 and I enjoy playing it, so fuck you hardcore online gamers:rollseyes

i know where you're coming from. when i seriously got into PC gaming, i totally ignored the PS2/Xbox era. it's like once you go PC, its hard to go back to stale console games. this time around, consoles are finally joining the online community, so i might end up buying a next-gen system, along with the gaming PC i already own.

I won't be getting the PS3 because I'd rather put my money towards real life expenses - a car, college, bills, etc.

I will get the Wii because of SSB Brawl and Twilight Princess - the system and both games costing almost half of the price of the PS3.

I'm not getting a PS3 or a 360 for a combination of reasons: The cost, I don't see a big enough need to get them rather than playing the same types of games on my computer, I think the Wii looks more entertaining and original (and cheaper) so I'm getting that.

I got the Xbox 360 because the first xbox was great and so is the 360. Personally I never liked any games on the playstation except for grand theft auto but thats not an exclusive anymore. Im going to get the Wii because it just looks really innovative.

random, you like rpgs? if so oblivion is great. have you played graw, or condemned, they're great games imo. your right though not a lot of great games for the 360 yet, a few but not many
i'm not sayin to buy a 360, or thats its better, just don't throw it out the window yet.

as for controllers it takes practice. when i started i sucked ass. now its the only way i like to play fps', and rpg's. rts' though are iffy. i've played a few on consoles and they're alright, but they need a keyboard/mouse

Yeah, Oblivion is awesome. I'm doing a review for some silly site I write for, and I just can't stop writing:ohnoes:. Top spin 2 is a pretty addicting game too if you are into tennis. Oh, and Fable 2 is announced for the Xbox 360, if they learned from their mistakes that should be a nice time spender too.
And I agree 100% about the controller thingy. I don't play that many FPS games, but when I do, I prefer to use a controller. a mouse and keyboard just don' t do it for me, it's too "complicated" I guess... and playing RTS games with a controller just doesn't work, they're the only games that are "keyboard and mouse only" in my opinion.

Oh, a little question: does anyone else get disc read errors? :err: I got them a few times, especially when the Xbox 360 still stood vertically. I hope this is not going to be like when they replaced all the thompson cd-readers with another brand. I want to be able to play all my games without errors, dammit:motz_6:

Why can't you fuckers just play both? I'm sick of this "I can't play PC games b/c I like controllers" and vice versa. Man up, stop bitching, and STFU. Learning to play both is not that fucking hard. [/rant]

To contribute to this thread, I am getting either a Wii or Xbox360...I don't think the PS3 will outperform the 360 by that much, and Sony's strategy for this generation of consoles is laughable.

never had a disc read error. oblivion has frozen on me a few times. its weird i use my buddy's 360 (don't have one yet) and he says that only when i come over does obliv start to get choppy. i don't think bethesda likes me or i'm cursed w/ obliv.
EDIT: don't use any console vertically, i messed up my friends copy of perfect dark 0 by bumpin into it (accidentaly) now there is a bunch'a missions he can't play.

At first, it just freezes completely, but after a few seconds I get the "disc read error". I've moved the 360 to put it horizontally, and now I've only had the error a few times (after freezing). and its WAY easier to change discs when your console is put horizontaly.:rollseyes The man who claimed that you can use the 360 vertically was a mad man:ahhh:

I'll be buying a PS3 the day it drops at or below 300 dollars. No way I'm paying 500-600 dollars for that. I think I can wait a while.

Why I didn't get an Xbox360: Microsoft is evil and my favorite game developers don't make games for them. Also, most of the best games for Xbox360 will also be available on PC or other consoles. Xbox 360 offers no new gameplay that isn't available on the current gen consoles. Also the majority of games lack in indepth storylines and rarely have decent character developement.

I won't be buying the PS3 in the first 6 months, maybe not even in the first year of it's release. I'll be waiting for any kinks to be worked out and for a price drop or two. I'll mainly be buying it since it will have the most non-DnD style RPGs.

I plan on getting the Wii on the release date, because I love all their first party games. Mario, Zelda, and Smash bros are going to be great.

the only reason i would buy ps3 is cuz of the metal gear series and the pro evolution soccer/winning eleven series (both made my konami)

konami isnt that bad at soccer games ... and its actually better than FIFA

There's a question that these consoles bring up to me. With the power of these machines, running next generation graphics. It would cost you about 2 grand to build a pc worthy of contending with them. So the point is..

Computer companies need to answer up why they charge so fucking much for their product's.

the reason i like xbox games is because of little character developement. i realy don't wanna hear about every characters troubled past. the reason i like playing games is for the gameplay.

Umm I have had my PC for about 3 years now and I have not had to upgrade it yet and it plays all new games just fine. Plus my computer is not just for games, that makes the $1500 I spent on it well worth it.

1. Xbox and PS are way too expensive.
2. Games for both are too expensive.
3. Both systems don't have enough innovative/original games for my taste.
4. Most games take too much time. I want quality arcade-style games.

I got the xbox 360 about a month ago and i love it. GRAW is way sweet and i cant wait for chrome hounds, gears of war, and halo 3 to come out also grand theft auto will be sweet. ps3 is way to expensive and their controller wont even have a rumble pack plus it seems like if you didnt have a ps2 then you wont like any of the ps3 games. and when you buy a 360 instead of a ps3 you practically have enough mioney to buy a wii to. i am sort of biased though i love xbox.

I just can't see how people will actually throw down $600. I was a bit hesitant when I bought a 360 for $400. I just don't see what's better for $200 more. It has a blu-ray player. Ok, that's good, if I bought a machine for playing movies, but the games will look almost identical with the 360. Also, their online will most likely be below par, seeing as they're not making gamers pay and it's their first shot at making an online community thing like xbox live.

I am considering buying the Wii because of its cheap cost and ability to play all the old nintendo games. The 360 looks like a waste to me, and while the PS3 did impress me, im wondering how much is actually true, and even if it is all true the price tag is just too much.

Mostly I play PC games because I love their customizability, with map editors, mods, easily downloadable levels and expansions etc. And a terrabyte harddrive to boot.

I would, but my little brother took it to gamestop and sold it. I was extremely pissed, but he was the one that bought it. Oh well.

Ya I know what you mean though, I started playing that game right after coming off a long streak of playing PGR2 religiously. Needless to say, it was extremely different.
