I've been absolutely racking my brains all night trying to remember what this game was called, and i've just bought a sega megadrive from eBay so i can buy back all my old favourite games, but there's one i can't remember the name of.

It was on the Sega, obviously, and it was some kind of side-scrolling space game. You controlled a spaceship out in space, and as you moved it you came across planets. When you went near a planet you would get sucked in by it's gravity, sometimes so strong that you couldn't get away but that was rare, and you could press a button and choose to land on the planet. When you landed, you got a top down view of your spaceship and had to land it gently by applying thrusters everytime you went too fast, if you didn't you crashed and died.

When you landed a little buggy probe would come out of your spaceship for you to explore the planet with. Some planets were made of gas and you simply couldn't land on them, wel you could but you died instantly, some were icey and freezing, some hot but explorable, and some had aliens on them that attacked you. Your little buggy had (as far as i can remember) a meter with 500 in it, and everytime you moved the 500 ticked down... This was your fuel and you had to get back to the ship before it ran out or you would lose it.

You could also buy upgrades for your ship at certain times but i never did this as i never found a way to exit the space-store once i was in the damn thing.
