ATi spanks that ass once more, here goes the story.
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=32208
In short,
ATi's slowest graphics card 'X1600' can do physics 2x better then agiea physX, and 9x better with a X1900XTX.
Then ATi's X1600 does physics 4x better then nVidia's 7900 GTX and the x1900XTX does it 15x better.
ATi is the top leader in GPU and now PPU (Physics Processing Unit). Yes, the x1900XTX is better then the 7900GTX, check the benchmarks.

cool...i've always been an ATi person, rather than a Nvidia or whatever.

ATi mimics everything Nvidia releases. It's like they wait and add a little more each time around.

this is pretty sweet, however i want to see some unbiased sites reports on this.

What Console actually uses ATi? I thought the XBox and the Wii both used nVidia while the PS3 used Aegis?
Either way, all of these used on a PC is just too fucking much, give it 2-3 months and they'll be outdated by 2 releases.
Is it just me or is the quench for Graphics getting fucking stupid now? If you want Graphics, go outside...

I had my physics exam today, it went well.

you have no idea how much that statement made me jsut stop and think...im gonna be thinking about that for a few days...

And people wonder why gamers get a bad rep

if i go outside, i cant drive a hoverboat at bad people with guns trying to kill me and smush them against walls can i?
and i used to be an ATi person, but i got the shits with their software and their customer support... go NVidia :p best $90 i ever spent!

Which is why they are better.
I have Nvidia for now because I have PCI. If I had AGP I would be a ATI person.

The Xbox360 uses the r500 GPU, also known as the Xenos, by ATI. Wii uses a GPU called Broadway, I think, also made by ATI. The PS3 uses the a cut-down version of the G71 PC video card, used in the 7900gt and 7900gtx.
Anyway, ATIs physics won't ever be used on consoles because the Wiis GPU will be too underpowered to use it, and the Xbox360s GPU will be too outdated. GPU controlled physics aren't the best idea, anyway, since they all use pixel shaders, which are designed for graphics, not physics, and because pixel shaders can't write back to the system, making it impossible for any physics to effect anything, other than making it look better.
The real future of physics is in DirectX10, with the Geometry Shaders that will be added into GPUs before the end of the year. Geometry Shaders are designed for physics, and should have the ability to send information back to the processor, making a normal $300 GPU more powerful than anything you could get with any kind of physics API today.

I think real future in Physics is eather Physics Cards, or Dual/Mulit core proccessors.

Yeah you can. Just bring your system outside...

Do you know this all off by heart, I'm pretty sure you've posted detailed mumbo-jumbo like this before, very informative!

I don't care if a game's main role is to dig through a trash can. If it has 100% real graphics, hell I'd buy it.

I spend some time making sure I know what I'm buying so I don't end up paying for something I don't want, like $600 for a media player that can play a few select game titles on the side.
