Systems always go through dry spells. There are times when nothing good is being released. The PS2, Game cube and even the 360 are going through one right now. You'll forget about your system for a couple months until the next Mario game comes out.
I thought that the Xbox 360 would have a cure for that with the Xbox-live arcade. I thought they would have a constant stream of decent small games that could keep you busy, but I was proven wrong. Sure there where some fun games like geometry wars but not enough to keep you occupied while you wait for a real game.
The PS3 and Wii are doing the same thing. They'll have an online arcade with games "from developers with a bigger imagination than budget" that you can download, but if they follow in the same steps as the 360, it will still leave us with boring dry spells where we wait for something good.
Now this is when I get to the point of the thread. The ability to download a large library of games from any previous system for the Nintendo Wii will make it so that there are no dry spells. Nobodies played all the good NES/SNES/N64/Turbo Grafix/Sega Master System games, so during the dry spells, instead of waiting for the next good game, you can play the older games which are still classics.
Think of it like this, you will probably get bored with your 360. You will probably get bored with your PS3 but you will not get bored of your Wii. Because of the constant stream of classic games there's no way the Wii will get boring.
And before anyone brings up "I can always play those old games on emulators" let me say something. The games you will be able download can't cost that much money for Nintendo to convert to the Wii, so they will most likely be very cheap. Besides it will be nice to play the games like they where meant to, on a full sized TV with a controller.
I’ve sold my Xbox because I grew tired of it. I’ve forgotten about my Game Cube and my PS2 because of lack of games. But the Wii will have a constant flow of downloadable games that are good. It will not gather dusts like my other systems because of this.
