The big Unit is getting knocked around. He is 7-5 but has an ERA of 5.63. He pitches tonight for the Yankees against Cleveland. Johnson has 270 career wins and will go to the Hall of Fame. He will be 43 in September. Is he finished?

It's hard to tell. It's true that he's nowhere near as good as he was three to four years ago, but he's still throwing heat on a consistent basis. He's definitely struggling now compared to a lot of guys around his age. Guys like Tom Glavine and Kenny Rogers are up there in years but they're still doing pretty decently. Roger Clemens is coming back and most likely will be as dominant as before but Johnson hasn't had a really outstanding season in a few years. Last year New York couldn't really rely on him in the playoffs, so I think he's starting to move into the twilight of his career. The same goes for Curt Schilling; he's four or five years younger than Johnson but he's been getting lit up on quite a few pitches.

I am pretty sure he is done. I thought he was done when the Yankee's picked him up anyways.

He's definitely on his way out. He may not be "done." But I don't see him having any more years much better then this one.

I think he's probably done. He'll never be a dominant ace again, but he has a chance of being moderately successful. if he could pitch like he did last year I'd be happy

The reason Schilling is still having success is because he has learned how to pitch instead of just throwing. When Schilling and Johnson were on the DBacks, they would just blow everyone away with fastballs. Now hitters have caught up to both of their fastballs. Schilling has learned to spot his and mix in his splitter and changeup. RJ still just throws, and he has lost command of his slider.

I would have to say he's done for one reason. I would have to say it's no longer that hitters are intimidated by him when they step into the box. They are no longer fearing that the 99mph fastball will be heading into their head.

he should be a closer, but yanks have rivera, he would do well somewhere that needs a dominent closer, he can throw smoke for 1 inning a night
