Of all the live albums that you have heard by bands what is your favourite?

A few that stick out in my mind are Pantera-101 Live Proof, it's an awesome album that's pretty much a greatest hits collection, all delivered with the precision of the band.

Another one I like is Pennywise-Live at the Key Club, it really brings the energy of the music and the show to you.

I can't stand Phil's vocals on the live Pantera album, but I'm getting a bit bored of Pantera at the moment.

The best live album ever:
Iced Earth - Alive in Athens

closely followed by every Iron Maiden live album.
and Deep Purple - Made in Japan

oh and Vio-lence (live at Slims 2001) (disc 2 of Eternal Nightmare rerelease)

This is a true statement.
This is the only band that has made a live album in which I prefer the live versions more than the studio versions

Proof:
Live (http://media.putfile.com/iced-earth-live)
Studio (http://media.putfile.com/iced-earth-19)

OAR is like that. Amazing live (Any Time Now) but their studio versions seem to be missing the jam factor that they give off live.

Dude I totally agree!!

I've seen them twice live. Second show was this: http://www.archive.org/details/oar2004-12-30.mkh800.flac16

If nothing else, download CGOP....AMAZING!! (they jam into "No Woman No Cry")

Man, Maiden have waaaay too many live albums. They release one after every studio album, totally unnecessary :err:

I haven't heard the Halford one, but the other two are definitely great contenders

i have that as well, but obvs "grand olympic etc" flows better since it is a full concert. Live and Rare is a bit of a mish mash, but its still v good
