This is beyond awesome. Why haven't they done this in America? This idea would take off here.
I know some of you would say well they already have waterparks all over the place but the dome idea is great. And I hate it when I take my daughters to a waterpark and its cloudy or its about to rain. It just puts a damper on the day.

i think we haven't done this yet is because we have beaches already.

That is mentioned in the description. But who cares? I wanna go!
Imagine a beach where the sky is always blue, it's never too hot or cold, the water isn't filled with salt and pollution, and the surf is always perfect - welcome to Ocean Dome, the world's only indoor beach.
Ocean Dome has its own flame-spitting volcano, crushed white marble "sand", and it also boasts the world's largest retractable roof, providing a permanently blue sky. Temperature, wind and humidity are closely controlled to provide an ultra-safe "sea-side" experience. Every hour, the volcano erupts and the hi-tech wave machines start up, starting a few minutes of sanitized surfing. Entrance cost is US $50 per person, which seems especially expensive given that there is a free, natural beach only 300 meters away.
The roof is retractable . .
so the SURF'S UP . . .rain or shine!
When the roof is closed, you still get blue sky and puffy white clouds .

Yes but not even in florida can you go to the beach all year round. This thing, although impractical in the summer, offers year-round beach fun. Hell I'd buy a season pass if I lived there. Although it was 90 degrees here today, that doesn't mean that it's 90 all year. Plus that water park looks kick ass. Next to an ocean? Yes ironic but you must realize that there are seasons. They control the temp, humidity, etc. all year round. Seems cool to me. :)
Plus there is a volcano that erupts hourly! How fuckin cool is that?

to me this doesn't seem practical very much. If you already have open waters with which you needn't pay an expensive fee to utilize, and miles of it no-less, why bother pay someone to fill a tub (essentially) with water and cram people into this dome. Besides that, nature is fucking wonderful, why fake it's habitat to make a couple grand or so. Think.
As interesting and unique a business idea this may be, it's not going to replace the natural weather environment and real joy surfing the beach waters can be. It doesn't look that healthy, exciting or relaxing either. I say it's money and property well waisted. but that's me.....a practical thinker.
Sure, you could assert "the ocean is already used enough and doesn't need anymore human pollution to crowd it's sway". True. However, nature doesn't mind being 'used', if you're a surfer or swimmer....

If they had a place like this in America the water would turn scummy, bandaid floating around, piss flavored kind of water in no time.

I don't know about you guys, but the first picture looked a bit weird to me. I mean, every picture i look at on ebaumsworld is analyzed differently. Ebaum posts many pictures that have 'hidden images' in them, and.....this might sound crazy.....but the first thing i noticed was a hidden image of a penis going into a vagina. LOL, the dome is the dick, and the golf course is the girl genitalia....

Thats not what I meant by that post. What I meant was exactly what you just said in your post. It didn't matter that we have beaches already this park could be open every day. He just didn't read the description thats all.

LOL I so realized that after you said it, its funny cuase its true! Classic!
this was on the travel channel 3 years ago- this is REALLY REALLY old news.
oh and btw since you all were asking... the reason they don't go to the beach that is right next to them is because it is heavily polluted. (in other pictures you can see smoke stakes opposite of facility next to the beach; and on them pipes draining into the ocean) so ya- they said in the show that there were no "clean/healthy" beaches to swim or go to, thus this facility was created.......
Now my question is- other then just for capitalism- why wouldn't some of the facilities funds go to CLEANING UP THEIR GOD DAMN POLLUTED BEACHES!!!!
Its this drive for money that's going to end up killing everyone.... its not going to be the usa, iraq, uk, or north korea... its going to be the ideas behind making a facility to "bypass" a problem they created.
k- rant over lol
