If you talking about how well players have performed in this years world cup, ronaldinho has disappointed me so far. He is the worlds best player and hasn't yet showed that yet in this world cup, he has been average, how can he be in these teams?

AVERAGE DEFENDER!!!!????

You obviously have no idea what you are on about.... Carragher has been the best defender in England for the last 2 years FACT!!!
Without him Liverpool wouldnt have had 32 clean sheets last season.

Some might argue Terry is better bcoz he chips in with goals every now and then but Carradona is the best defensive player in the country.

-"If thats true why cant he get in the England team unless theres an injury?"

I'll tell you why, bcoz Sven is scared of making big decisions, he is happy with Rio and Terry in the centre of defence bcoz its tried and tested but Rio is dodgey as fuck, he tries to be too clever and gets caught out.
Englands defence should be:

Neville.........Carragher............Terry........ ..Cole

Dude, that all doesn't mean shit because this thread is for the best 11 players of the tournament so far.
It might be true that Terry and Carragher are heroes in the Premier league, but they were just utter shit so far in the WC.

I am sure most neutral experts would include not one single English player into the top 11 so far, but if I had to include some, it would be Joe and Ashley Cole.

Goalie: Cech

Defender: Terry, puyol, cafu, ashley cole
Midfielders: ronaldinho, joe cole, steven gerrard, beckham(or makalele)
forwards: rooney, thierry henry

What kind of bullshit-list is that?

Terry has been very weak against Sweden and Ecuador, Ronaldinho hasn't shown what he is capable of so far, Gerrard isn't even a starter and if he is a starter, he collides at least 3 times per game with Lampard because those two guys don't seem to understand that only one of them can play in the central offensive midfield. Beckham does nothing besides dead ball situations, Rooney hasn't scored a goal so far and Henry has been good, but surely not one of the best 5 strikers of the tournament.

What comes next? Do you propose Lampard and Crouch as players of the tournament?

I agree. Carragher is a much more solid and reliable centre back than Rio. But I don't think Carragher is best suited to play a right or left back, especially when you want him to make runs up the wings like Ashley Cole, he's just not suited to that kind of game.

I was talking about at international level - in fact saying Caragher has been average is generous TBH, though I guess it isn't his fault when Sven plays him at right back. You are the one with no idea what you're on about - you can't put Carragher and Terry in the same team becasue they are both so slow and so terrible going forward (Carragher especially). If you had both of them then the opposition would be getting past them all day long and they'd just end up doing last ditch tackles all the time and then hoofing it back to the opposition. Rio might be a bit crap, but he's certainly the right type of player to have next to Terry.

You're just trying to force Liverpool players into the side in places where they clearly don't fit - what next Robbie Fowler in goal? The only spot Carragher is suitable for is Terry's place - and contrary to what you wrote Terry was miles ahead of Carragher the season before last, (when Liverpool were 5th), and I'd say he deserves the spot even if he is a Chav.

Also I'm sure we have better right backs than Gary Nevile as he generally only gives a 6 out of 10 performance in an England shirt and still doesn't seem to understand how to catch opponents offside. Even Owen Hargraves looked better there TBH

Also agree with the other guy that that the two Coles' have been England's best players, with Rooney starting to look very good too.

Listen nob-end, Terry and Carragher would be fine together, ok neither has blistering pace but Terry comes forward for set pieces and usualy does well, Terry is the better defender if you want a defender who can get forward and cause problems (I will be the first to admit Carragher strikes about as much fear into oppostion defences as a blind dwarf with one leg) but the simple fact is Carragher is the best out and out defender in England and should be the first name on Sven's team sheet.

We are never gonna agree on this but believe me, if Carra' was playing for Manure or Chelscum he would be the most talked about defender in the world, he is Liverpools unsung hero...... Gerrard gets all the praise but Carra' is every bit as important to us than Stevie G.

Worst midfielder so far? You're having a laugh mate. He's missed a couple of easy chances granted but I put him in their as I'm willing to bet he'll be the one who scores the winner for us on July 1st.

I dont rate Carragher above Ferdinand, Ferdinand receives to much critism because of the style of his play, not many read the game as well as Ferdinand and not many are as calm as he in desperate situations.

I rate Carragher, dont get me wrong and had he peaked early in his career he would have established his name in the English squad but because of the level of centre halfs England have now and coming through the ranks, Carragher will never be an permanent fixture for England.

This may cause abit of disbelief, more so from you JamesBond but I think King is a better centre half than Carragher too.

Good point - King has certinaly outperformed Carragher at international level. Think he needs more games at the top level though to see if he really is that much better or not.

Carragher is a great at traditional defending in itself as james Bond says (ie the actual tackling and hoofing the ball away) - just the rest of his game and his lack of pace which means he'll never be an England regular. If he really was the best defender in 2004-2005 then how come Liverpool conceeded close to 3 times as many goals as Chelsea?

As for Lampard - perhaps not the worst midfileder then (I was exagerating), but certinaly closer to being the worst than to actually making any sort of dream team, that's for sure. He must be the most overated England player there is. It wouldn't matter if he got 4 goals in the next game - it would only take his overall perfomrance and contribution in the tournament from completly shit to not that bad.

I sort of agree. I know Lampard is a great player, don't ge me wrong on that and I don't think he's overrated, he just hasnt performed to the level that he set himself with Chelsea last season. He had such a good season and scored alot of goals and we expected him to go to Germany and carry that form on but he hasnt and thats why he should be dropped. While England struggle to find the link up between the midfield and the forwards, they just need to look for a new angle, that angle been Lennon in my opinion and the most under performing player should be dropped to make way, that been Lampard.

My dream team..

Goalie is Ice Man, speed is really the only factor here.

Defenders: Enkar man on left to advance the ball quickly when my players are off-position.
Pharoah man in middle because he's a beast.
Snake man on right for lack of a better player.

Midfield: Cut Man. Decent speed and third best tackler in game.

Forwards:
Proto Man/Blues. Fastest guy with > 100 defense.
Wood man in middle to get lobs and pass them off. Best defense in game.
and Gemini Man. Next best forward to Blues.

No Wily, he's fucking cheap.

Don't get it out of context. You're not stupid and this fight has been fought before on this thread. The build up of the text suggests that you should make your decisions on basis of the WC. And funnily enough, you're the first who read it and still didn't understand it, so it's not me being stupid.
