I'm happy with the Bruins pick Kessel, he is gonna be great. He was expected to be picked first by some but Bruins ended up with him 5th. :)

yea Bruins should be real happy with Kessel. I like him a lot.
Rangers picked up Bobby Sanguinetti....an 18 year old NJ native and a long time Rangers fan. That just has to be an amazing feeling being drafted to a team you been rooting for your entire life. 65 points in 68 games...offensive defensman but they say he needs to work more on his overall game.
I played against him once when I was 17 and he was on the NJ Rockets.
He can get working into the training camp and into the system and maybe be ready in a few years.
sort of a steal picking him up 21 when he was ranked around 10-15.

Well I'm a Blues fan but I don't know much about Erik Johnson other than he's a big physical defenseman. Tell me, is this guy a franchise player that can lead the Blues back to contention? I still think we need one...or two...or a handful of young speedy forwards. Weeeeee suck. Thanks a lot Lauries.
Anyway, is Johnson an NHL ready player or will he need a couple years of development?

I don't think he is ready just yet. He is suppose to have great leadership abilities as well as being a big, well rounded defenseman who can join the rush and quarterback the play. Seems like the whole package. Defiently a HUGE pickup for the Blues. Probably see him in a Blues jersey in a few years.

Blues fan here (I have taken the paper bag off my head)
I was hoping for kessel to tell the truth and I wouldve setelled for staal also
Johnson looks like he will be good.............just not as a blue
We tend to get the worse out of players than ship them off and watch them excel.
Larry pleau is the worst gm imo. I honestly wouldnt be surprised if the kansas city blues were playing in the near future.
Btw the blues are along way from being in "contention" especially with nashville and detroit only getting better.

Pretty busy draft day...
Leafs fan here. They picked up Jiri Tlusty with their first pick, 13th overall. I'm not gonna lie to you, I know nothing about him but hopefully he can pan out.
As for the Leafs trade of Tuuka Rask for Andrew Raycroft, I'm all for it. The Leafs forum I'm on doesn't like it much, but I believe Raycroft will come back to his Calder trophy form and the trade will benefit Toronto. We already have Pogge in the system, so losing Rask doesn't hurt. Although he'll probably be a star in the years to come.

I think Staal's gonna be a pretty good player. Johnson was a good grab for the Blues IMO.

Gaaaaah, the Flames don't need another fucking goalie! That's what they have Kipprusoff for, for fuck's sake! What a waste of a 1st round pick!
Pretty fucking great that they picked up Tanguay, though.

Johnson was the PERFECT fit for Pittsburghs needs...I would have tried anything to get that man if I were in that organization..but JS will become a great player and a great addition to our offense.

Hell I give it 2-3 years. Dont forget Armstrong, Hilbert, and Malone.
Pittsburgh is going to have an offensive juggernaut. But yeah still at this point our defense stinks of something horrid.

Wow, Jordan Staal's only 17... That's fucked up. I didn't even know you could be drafted into the NHL that young.
Wow, I was just looking at the whole first round, and every birthday is 1988/1987. Damn, these kids are getting good these days.
Nevermind, it seems everyone is either 17 or 18.

I have no idea what Colorado was thinking. Leopold is a good pick up, but Tanguay is much better. imo Calgary definitely won this trade.

i agree, but who better mentor than the kipper. kipper will teach him, and remember kipper was like a 1239012903th pick when he came in, and boom he came amazing. if he can lend that knowledge, who knows, calgary thrives off their defence.
tanguay was great, they need an offensive threat.
as for the maple leafs, they will definately get raycroft back into his true form, im all for it, he'll be a great one, i'll say Huet quality. If the penguins could get chris pronger somehow, wow thats a team to beat. :bigwink:
