For those who follow Basketball...
What: 2006 NBA Draft
When: Wednesday, June 28 (ESPN, 7 ET)
Where: Madison Square Garden, NY
Rounds: Two rounds
Lottery Results:
Toronto Raptors
Chicago Bulls
Charlotte Bobcats
Portland Trail Blazers
Atlanta Hawks
Minnesota Timberwolves
Boston Celtics
Houston Rockets
Golden State Warriors
Seattle SuperSonics
Orlando Magic
New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets
Philadelphia 76ers
Utah Jazz
Choose. My pick is Andrea Bargnani, because he was scouted the most by the Raptors more than any other team, but it's gonna be a close call. I put J.J. Redick up there for a laugh. :)
I'll do a follow up after the draft ends as well.
Here's my picks now for this draft;
~~~~~~~My Picks~~~~~~~
Toronto Raptors - Andrea Bargnani
Chicago Bulls - LaMarcus Aldrige
Charlotte Bobcats - Brandon Roy
Portland Trail Blazers - Adam Morrison
Atlanta Hawks Brandon - Ronnie Brewer
Minnesota Timberwolves - Tyrus Thomas
Boston Celtics - Marcus Williams
Houston Rockets - Rudy Gay (J.J. Redick maybe, if Rudy Gay has been taken already)
Golden State Warriors - Sheldon Williams
Seattle SuperSonics - J.J. Redick
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yeah I know some better guys are being picked later, but some teams don't need certain players.
Who I think is gonna benefit from this draft? Charlotte with its very young team and the Raptors with Chris Bosh and now possibly a tall jump shooter like Dirk.

Toronto doesn't need Morrison, Tyrus is a major prospect too.

The Raptors will probably fuck it up again and pick another Araujo, but I think they need Rudy Gay.

Gay would be a good pick for the Raptors. Still I think they would be stupid not to pick Aldridge. Though, with Bosh, you don't really need him. (What they really need is to trade the headcase Mike James and bring in a real guard with less of an ego).
Aldridge will probably go #2 to Chicago but that's just my guess.
This Italian kid, I am not sold on. I've seen some film of him and he really didn't impress me, especially playing in an foreign league. After Darko, how can we have any confidence in foreigners? :uhoh:
*Also need my 76ers to hope Nova native Foye doesn't go early. Sixers need to deal Iverson for some young guns and possibly move up to get Randy. He's a great combo guard that could fit in on any team.

The only reason I said Bargnani is because of the scouting. I will never live my pistons down after that Darko bull shit. Everytime I think about it I want to punch the fuck damn wall.
I think Bargnani will be shit in a bucket. I suspect the Rookie of the Year to be Brandon Roy and he'll go to Charlotte, probably my 3rd favorite team since I live in North Carolina.

Toronto's star player, Chris Bosh, wants the team to take Aldridge 1st, but still think it will be Morrison

After learning more about the Gaurds in the draft. I think the Hawks will take Randy Foye or Marcus Williams. But with Williams' problems, I think they'll take Randy Foye more so. I also think Redick with go for Houston at #8 because Yao and T-Mac draw double teams like crazy, and I'm telling you - Redick will hit the open shot... Just not a contested one in the NBA.

Got it.
I saw a rumor on a Celtics board about the Celts trading pick 7 and Wally to the Sixers for Iverson. Anyone else heard anything? Iverson and Pierce might put up 200 shots a game.:lol:

I heard it too. Definitely Philly would get Boston's pick. I don't want Szcerbiak on my team anyway, give me your pick, I'll get Foye of Villanova.
ESPN Insider said this rumor has no credibility, and why would the Sixers trade their All-Star to a division rival, potentially blocking them from the Playoffs again? Explain that to me.

I heard about Iverson being traded.. But he's going somewhere by the start of next season. I don't think he'll do much with the Celtics.
*ROFL @ the kid who thinks Morrison will go first. He won't - mark my word.
This draft should be good considering it's gonna be so unpredictable.

I don't think so either. If you know anything about the Raptors, Morrison is the last thing they need. An oversized guard who will never be abled to use his height to an advantage. I think Morrison's career in the NBA will be garbage, because now he's playing against real 6'7 players, not guards who he towered in college.

I assume it will be Bargnani seeing as Colangelo and company seem to think real highly of him. He seems like a hit or miss player though, only time will tell if that is the right decision. There is a rumour that Colangelo has cut it down to 2 players, Bargnani and Gay.
Personally, I think Thomas will turn out to be the best player in the long run but he will also take the most time to develop so it's really a waiting game.
This is an interesting draft because there are no clear cut #1 picks.
NEW YORK -- The Boston Celtics acquired second-year Portland Trail Blazers point guard Sebastian Telfair for the No. 7 pick in Wednesday's NBA draft, as well as one or two other players, multiple sources told ESPN.com.

Yeah I heard that. But they ended up trading the 7th pick, LaFrenz, and Dickau to the Blazers for Telfair and Ratliff. I heard the AI trade is still in talks possibly. That would own if we get AI.

This is a really bad draft to have a high pick in. Because of those new age restrictions all of the talented high schoolers have to go to college first. In a couple of years it'll all even out because this year's high schoolers will declare, but since it's the first year it just makes for a weak draft.

Sheldon Williams, even though "locked in" was a surpise for me. I'm kinda pissed that Minn. would pick that kid. I think he's a bad choice.
But I'm still solid with JJ at the #8.

Trailblazers just got Roy which is WOW, they stole that AWAY man what a steal.
Seattle WTF?!?!?!?!?! THey just threw away their pick getting some NIgerian guy (another Diop, i mean yeah great huge ass shot blocker, but good... NO)
JJ Redick was just selected. Good choice by Orlando, I think Houston should have got him but they picked up Rudy Gay for a potential trade, so it's no biggie there.

It's not the trades. It's the fact that Marcus Williams went late first round. Gotta be kidding me. Nonetheless nobody can like a kid that steals laptops when he's going to the damn NBA... What a bitch hole.

Lol @ the dash between "basket-ball"
This draft was unpredictable, but I think it's gonna turn out better. I was waiting for Detroit's last pick, but I think they got a steal with an AMERICAN player that's pretty damn Solid. Probably won't do anything for a while, but potentially maybe another Manu.
I think Orlando got a great pick in this draft with JJ Redick. With him and Dwight Howard it's gonna be something because he will draw double teams. And that's what I was worried about with JJ.
But fuck JJ and let's talk about Chicago. What a steal they got with Tyrus Thomas + another solid player + a later draft pick (i think). I mean c'mon they ripped Portland off. But Portland definately benefited from this draft.
Charlotte I think has some SERIOUS young talent and it's really great for them. Adam Morrison is probably the #2+ prospect for this draft and is probably one of the top canadates for Rookie of the Year.
To end it, I will post a follow up of this draft for more discussion and who everyone thinks will be the ROY next year. It's definately not gonna be Bargnani, I'll tell you that right now.

He's not gonna be another Darko man. Darko didn't really have shit to back up his shit. Bargnani, comes from best European basketball league. Bargnani can back up his shit man, he ain't Darko. I don't think he's gonna be that prominent in the beginning, but I think he'll be close to a Dirk.

Allan Ray was not drafted because he eats babies, and David Stern does not condone baby-eating unless it is done in a humorous fashion.
