Alright, I haven't really followed the NFL in a long time (except for the super bowl). But I want to get back into it. I used to like the 49ers when Joe Montana was playing, but from what I gather, they suck now. And it's been a while, so I don't really care anymore.

So, you guys have the once in a lifetime chance to choose the team for which I will root for in the future.

The team with the most votes win. 1 suggestion per person, if you list more than one, only the first entry counts.

One off topic question: are you a part of the American forces which are stationed in Kaiserslautern? Because you have a USA flag in your avatar, but still speak German very well.

Nö, ich wohne schon seit etwa 10 Jahren in Deutschland. Mein Vater is Deutscher, meine Mutter Amerikanerin. Ich habe also beide Staatsbürgerschaften.

Redskins. Why?

We have the best coaching staff. Joe Gibbs (hall of famer, 3 SBs)
Al Saunders (coached the top ranked offense for the last 5 years)
Greg Williams (best Defensive coach available)

According to ESPN we have the 3rd best WRs with all of them being speedsters, 2nd best pass defense.
6th best running back although that will change with saunders. Portis (the RB) got 1500yards and 11TDs last year and should get more, as saunders coached the guy last year who avg. 150 yards per game as a rusher and got 20 TDs.

We have a great veteran QB in Brunell and we are developing the future in jason campbell.

Santana Moss had 2nd most yards in the NFL and is arugably the fastest man in the NFL.

We have a great chance of getting to the playoffs and sending a bunch of guys into the pro bowl. Chris Samuels (already been), Sean Taylor, Shawn springs, carlos rogers, Marcus Washington (already went), Santana Moss, Brunell (if healthy) and mroe.

Plus the great rivalry between the skins and cowboys has been renewed with the skins sweeping the season series and scoring 14 points (and their only pts) in the last 4 minutes of the game on MNF IN Dallas when they honored Troy, Emmitt and Irvin.

Won our last 5 games in a row to get into the playoffs and got to the 2nd round.

Much more to say but, you should be a skins fan.

Alright. So far, we have:

1 - Redskins
1- Cleveland Browns
1 - Chicago Bears

Even though they did horribly last year, their defense has steadily gotten better and have a future quarterback in Aaron Rodgers. Also, Samkon Gado will be an interesting person to watch this year.

Wu-tang, I've seen few Redskins fans are are as strongly anti-Cowboys as you are. Why all the hate? The Giants are only 3rd on my hate list after the Redskinds and Eagles.

As for history, the Cowboys have tied with the 49ers and Steelers for the most Superbowl wins at 5. I saw this ranking system on another site:

10 points = Super Bowl win
5 points = Super Bowl loss
3 points = NFC or AFC championship game loss
1 point = playoff appearance

Here's how they ranked:
1. Dallas Cowboys, 100 points
2. San Francisco 49ers, 80 points
3. Pittsburgh Steelers, 78 points
4. Oakland Raiders, 74 points
5. Denver Broncos – Miami Dolphins, 55 points each
6. Washington Redskins, 52 points
7. St Louis/ Los Angeles Rams, 49 points
8. Minnesota Vikings, 48 points
9/10. New England Patriots – Green Bay Packers, 47 points each

Obviously this is in the Superbowl era and it won't end the debate, but it's pretty hard to make a case against the Cowboys there.

Actually the Cowgirls were established 10 years before the merger. And I'm sorry, but a record of 424-314 is not "> every nfl team". Why'd I mention the Giants? Well, for started, they're 3rd in nfl championships with 6. They're the 3rd team to reach 600 wins. It's one of the oldest teams, established in 1925. We have the 3rd most HoF'ers ever with 18, twice as much as the cowgirls have. We created the 4-3 defense. Homer Jones of the NYG created the 'spike'. We were the first team to retire a number. Oh, and guess where Tom Landry and Vince Lombardi started their careers? With the Giants. And little known fact, the Cowgirls wouldn't be who they were today if Wellington Mara didn't tell Jerry Jones to hire Tom Landry for coach.

Wu-tang, I've seen few Redskins fans are are as strongly anti-Cowboys as you are. Why all the hate? The Giants are only 3rd on my hate list after the Redskinds and Eagles.

That is a giants fan for ya. Want to be like them? Still bitter about a 23-0 loss in the own stadium whenver "everyone" was watching? Doesnt seem clutch to me.

Speaking of not clutch, Jay feeley. He missed 3 game winning Field Goals in the 4thqtr and overtime.

You can mention 36-0, i admit it, we were destroyed and shouldnt have even played that day, but that was october. In december, when it really counted for everyone, we dominated you have 35-17 (i was there... shockey was crying a bit) while santana had 173 yards and 3TDs. Talk about clutch.

Gibbs is past his prime? You realy have no facts behind that.

He took a team that was 6-10 to 10-6. With the help of a great owner, he has added new coaches and players that will lead us to the superbowl.

Wanna talk about fans? The skins have had dozens of consecutive sell outs and has led the league in attendance last few years. The giants? Well damn, the city they are in has 8 million people alone, they should have the most TV viewers.

EDIT: Nick is cool and that gmen lover. You guys have had your dick sucked by ESPN and the country for years now. Please, there are SB talks about dallas since all they really got was TO. Line is still suspect and your QB is a statue.

Chris Berman loves them as well, and all they do is talk about how good Eli is.

Redskins on the other hand, so few expected them to actually make the playoffs, everyone thought Gibbs was a hag, and Sean Salsbury, the ass, said that if we make the playoffs in 05 he would walk from Bristol to DC.

We are still waiting for him.

EDIT2: This is looking like another NFL vote off game.

Remember the 1986 season 20 years ago? That was the last time the Giants got shut out in the playoffs. And do you remember what happend the next year? SB baby. And it's not like the foreskins did the best in the playoffs. 2 good plays (Lavar fumbled that interception, and the fumble by Carnell was ridiculous). And then Chris Simms threw a perfect pass to Edell Shepard that he dropped. 120 offensive yards? Come on. And then the NFL MVP got hurt, Seattle had 3 turnovers, and they still managed to win? Come on.
Speaking of not clutch, Jay feeley. He missed 3 game winning Field Goals in the 4thqtr and overtime.
When did I ever say anything about clutch?
You can mention 36-0, i admit it, we were destroyed and shouldnt have even played that day, but that was october. In december, when it really counted for everyone, we dominated you have 35-17 (i was there... shockey was crying a bit) while santana had 173 yards and 3TDs. Talk about clutch.
It counted so much that it didn't change anything...
Gibbs is past his prime? You realy have no facts behind that.
Fact: Joe gibbs has won 3 superbowls.
Fact: Joe Gibbs hasn't won a superbowl since 1991.
Pretty solid facts right there.

He took a team that was 6-10 to 10-6. With the help of a great owner, he has added new coaches and players that will lead us to the superbowl.
And Tom Coughlin took us from 6-10 to 11-5.

Wanna talk about fans? The skins have had dozens of consecutive sell outs and has led the league in attendance last few years. The giants? Well damn, the city they are in has 8 million people alone, they should have the most TV viewers.
They might be fans that will go to their games, but that doesn't mean they aren't retarded. extremeskins.com is the ultime homer site, literally. And Washington doesn't have 2 NFL teams.

Giants get love from espn? You serious?
EDIT2: This is looking like another NFL vote off game.

Thats why they have skins winning the division and they had them 3 on overall depth charts

I agree that they make eli over rated though, he sucked last year but they even compare him to his brother sometimes.

+2 dallas

yea, because now they actually believe in gibbs and trust his moves. But everyone bitches at the skins for overpaying and shit, well damn, if we can win, we will do it any way possible. Dan messed up in 01 but now we are actually making the right moves. ESPN finally wised up to the fact that TO cant singlehandedly save that team.

I dunno where the skin love came from especialy from ESPN, but i guess they just needed to sober up.

Haha its funny when you act like dallas is the worst team in the league and TO is there only good player. We will see next year when the overrated redskins get 3rd in the division

Yes. You are right!

Actually ESPN's power ranking show dallas at 7 and skins at 10.

I dont mean to say dallas is a bad team, i think they and the skins are pretty close actually, being in the top 1/3 in the NFC, but i think there are some fundamental problems in dallas, and you cant win a SB with the team like it is right now.

I would go with the ravens.
Because they have a nice Defense and they have some nice shutdown corners.
Also there offense is going to be better since they have Steve McNair at the QB position. Ray Lewis is one of the best MLB in the league.

I agree with you about the SB thing, but IMO getting there isnt out of the question :)

On sportscenter they ranked teams 1-32 on ultimate depth chart and skins were 3, i wasnt talking about power rankings

No i know they ranked us #3, but im just saying the ranking work both ways, although I think depth chart wise, thats a pretty accurate assessement (sp).

If you want to root for the underdog team, go with the Steelers or Chargers.

If you're an offensive type of guy go with the Bengals, Colts, or Cardinals.

If you're a defensive type of guy go with the Bears, Steelers, or Panthers.

If you like bruising football on both sides of the ball go with the Steelers or Chargers.

If you like exciting football on both sides of the ball go with the Giants, Bengals, or Patriots...Tom Brady may be the most exciting quarterback in football.

If you want to root for the well respected team that mostly everyone likes except division rivals go with the Bengals or Chargers.

If you want to root one of the most popular franchises in all the NFL with great history go with the Steelers, Cowboys, 49ers, or Packers..but if you want one with history that isnt garbage at this time go with the Cowboys or Steelers.

If you want to root for the team most despised go with either the Steelers, Raiders, Cowboys...yes the Cowboys and Steelers are in both, fact is theres an abundance of Steeler and Cowboy fans...the rest hate them.

If you want to root for the team no one just plain gives a fuck about, go with the Texans or Bills.

Theres so many possibilities you can go with.

Rofl who do you pull for? Fuck the playoffs. Detroit benefited economically, and it's the money that matters.

Oh, the PIRATES? ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL... Yeah they beat us once .... WHOOPDIE DOO :boink:

What are you expecting me to say? "TEH PIRATES DONT SUK!!1" Of course they do, way to state the obvious. Instead of trying to pull anything out your ass to try and remotely insult me...atleast say something useful.

Fuck the playoffs? Haha, okay man.

Anyway, choose the New England Patriots if you love your country.

10-1 in the playoffs, 3 super bowls, best QB in the league, best coach in the league. Plus they are called the Patriots, have red, white, and blue colors, and their theme repesents the foundation of our great nation. Nuff said.

Also, I've noticed in this entire thread that the Patriots have only been mentioned twice before I mentioned them. Talk about disrespect. The Patriots have accomplished a hell of a lot over the past 6 years and they are technically the team of the 2000s so far. I'm sure most of you think Peyton Manning (3-9 in playoff games) is better than Tom Brady (10-1 in playoff games) also, right? Gimme a break. I wish the Colts would have had Brady as their QB last year so everyone could shut up about the '72 Dolphins already.
