I've looked around, but the most helpful advice i've seen was to "turn off my firewall", which I don't like doing, because of the risks etc etc.

So I have a torrent and it shows up as their are 300 seeders and 643 peers, but I am only connected to 40 of each, and getting a max speed of 18 Kb/sec.

Is there any way to make it so I can get my download faster? Or connect to more people? I have an estimated 10 days left right now, and don't really want to wait 10 days...

Thanks in advance for any help.

turing your firewall off wont do much....

tbh i use private trackers..public ones are shit, i can get about 120k with just 3 seeds

Limit your upload speed to atleast 5-6 KBs below how much you can actually upload. If you're using 100% of your upload bandwith to upload to peers, when you need to request pieces of files, you won't have enough bandwith left over.

If you're behind a router forward the ports your client are using (somewhere in settings) You might want to google for something along the lines of "Speeding up torrent (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=speeding+up+torrents&btnG=Google+Search)" and it should bring up all the information you need.
