NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Kenneth Lay, who rose from a poor preacher's son to become a millionaire before being convicted of corporate fraud, died early Wednesday in Aspen, Colo., a family spokeswoman said.

Lay, 64, was awaiting sentencing after being found guilty of conspiracy and fraud in the Enron trial in May.

In a statement, spokeswoman Kelly Kimberly said, "The Lays have a very large family with whom they need to communicate, and out of respect for the family we will release further details at a later time."

If I were one to be happy when people die, I would be jubilant right now. I won't get too excited though, there are more rich, white, greedy bastards to take his place.

I think what he did was clearly wrong, corrupt and evil...but I am sure there have been many other miscarriages of justice that were worse.

I feel sympathy, for all the unfortunate employees who lost their jobs and the unfortunate investors who lost millions of dollars. At the end of the day, these people can get other jobs...it is just money. He did not kill anybody...their are many people who have killed and destroyed lives and families, that get away with their crimes.

Any thoughts?

Wow, thats so funny, a bunch of us at work were laughing because I said it was probably a fake death, and he's sipping on a mai-tai somewhere in Cabo right now AHAHAHAHAHAH!


Eventually we blamed it on Bush though :D

Sucks that in essence he never got punished for what he did. He was vacationing in Aspen when he died for Christ's sake. The other thing that sucks is that since he was convicted but not yet sentanced, it will probably end up lessening the amount of money that he will be fined so his former employees will be screwed over again.

Of course there are rich greedy bastards of every race. But when I turn on the TV and see stories about CEOs, they are all white. When they are pleading the 5th on the hill they are white, when they are talking about making record profits, they are all white, when they are making excuses for the insane amounts of money they are making, they are white.

Of course I don't really feel this way, but that's the way your thought process can easily go. Stereotypes may be based on general truths...but they are still stereotypes. If you support one...you support them all.
