I've been playing SSBM lately, so I was wondering, what's everyone's favorite character/level? Also, which events do you like? What's your biggest accomplishment in the game? And what are your favorite gametypes?

Personally, I love playing as Zelda/Sheik, Marth, and Ganandorf. My favorite levels are Corneria, Final Destination, and both Zelda levels. (Hyrule Temple and the other one)
My favorite event is 37- Legendary Pokemon. You get to get all the pokemon that you love to see come out of a Pokeball in a game. Except Wobbufet.(sp?)

My favorite gametypes are very high frequency pokeballs, all home run bats and Bomb-ombs, and a gametype me and my friends thought of. Put the damage frequency up all the way, put items to very high red shells, bob-ombs, and motion sensors, and play on Final Destination. Pure chaos.


So what're everyone else's thoughts on the game?

I like Donkey Kong the best. I love just grabbing people and throwing the up in the air after I smash them around a little.

Yeah, my favorite is also donkey kong. I use Roy and Samus on occasion as well. I'm not very good. But my cousins are all SSBM pros. They go to the MLG tournaments to play SSB while I just go to play Halo. We ALWAYS play on Hyrule Temple!! (Best map) And we usually don't play with weapons.

I play as Roy, for his power and speed. Fox, for his power and speed, and Captain Falcon, for his power and speed.

Favourite level is Final Destination with no weapons. Can't complain that its the level's fault that you died!

Falco is my main character mainly for his downward spiral kick, and his speed. Although his moves arent as fast/far reaching as Fox's, his kick actually knocks opponents straight down, as opposed to Fox's just dealing damage. I can't tell you how many times ive kicked someone off the edge, and then jumped to spiral-kick them downwards to certain death when they attempted to jump back on.

My favourite levels would have to be Corneria (Fox/Falco's homestage) and Final Destination. Corneria simply because I've played it since the original SSB for N64, and know it inside and out. Final Destination because it provides no distractions or fancy moving things, it's simply a flat stage. This eliminates the possiblility of being killed by moving parts of the level, etc.

Just use Cpt. Falcon then. He's essentially a faster, albeit weaker, version of Ganondorf.

i once had all the stages, beat all the events even 51, and had beaten carzy+master hand, beaten Giga bowser, and there was only 12 trophies i needed to get to have them all.

then my dog ate my memory card.

EDIT: i now feel the need to brag, i could beat anyone with anyone. i have beaten two of my friends and a level nine character with yoshi, and in free for all i will kick your ass with jiggalypuff. i could even make it a close game by using the iceclimbers

My character was always Falco. Nice high jumps. I also used kirby for fun. I just loved eating someone then going off the edge to kill the both of us. :lol:

Falco is my character of choice. Highest jump in the game and has a good equilibrium between speed and strength. I havn't played in a while but at my prime, I beat 3 lvl9 Roys on a team and 3 lvl9 Captain Falcons on a team.

I need to start playing again and Super Smash Bros. Brawl is the only reason I'm getting Wii.

Anyways to get away from all the ill-braging, Kirby is my player of choice.. of course in a tournament I'd have to use a tier character, but kirby is all around a bad ass but gets the short side of things.

Marth kicks the tourny ass , and we only play on final destination.

Mario also claims the competition - you just have to see me in action.

I use Ness... his PK Fire turns into a huge fire thingy when it hits Giga Bowser, then it hits the other two guys too. Then when they get to about 300%, just smash them away.

Melee was a great game, but two things, in my opinion, kept it from being amazing.

1. The character copies. I understand its very hard to think of new moves for new characters, but it was kind of pointless to have so many copies, like pikachu and pichu, captain falcon and ganondorf, fox and falco, marth and roy, the mario's and luigi, and the 2 links. Of course, they had differences (mainly subtle), but if you dont like captain falcon, you probably would not like ganondorf. It would have been awesome to have all those guys as completely different.

2. No online. This would have been awesome, especially for a game like this. I think it would have helped the gamecube a lot more like halo did for the xbox.

However, this game is still pretty awesome, and I still play it with friends now and then.

I used to play with Link and Samus, but now I'm a big fan of Marth and Mario. I love Mario's throw and cape. I love Marth's counter and smash range. I've played Captain Falcon vs. Marth so many times that I can counter every one of his moves (except the B+Up, it's uncounterable) and know the right times to smash or dodge.

I've always liked Samus. For a faster character, I use Sheik. I'm not excellent, but the game never ceases to get old.

I'll get knocked a huge way off the level, only to charge that up and come speeding back at everyone. Of course, whever I play Jigglypuff, over half of my deaths are usually suicides.

I use Link, Marth, and Fox. I sometimes use Mewtwo and Mario as well.

I like to play Mario vs. Bowswer alot and I have the combos with Mario so precise now I can hit Bowswer into 150%+ before he even touches me once.

I also Link vs. Ganon and Marth vs Roy. I only play on them only level 9 mode.

I have unlocked every trophy, all events, and all rewards. Ive gotton over 400yards with EVERYONE in the Homerun mode. I also have taken on 3 level 9s and I have taken on 3 VERY good friends of mine and won every time.

Link is my main character for both of them

There is one character I would like to be in Brawl, and that he is Majora's Mask link. His left-B, down-B, and right-B attacks are him putting on one of his masks and they have their own moves except for when they take their masks off. His super attack would be him putting on the Fierce Deity Link mask and become the strongest, fastest, long range character in the game. But it would only be for about 2 minutes

I play the N64 version as opposed to the GCN version. I almost always play as Pikachu, because I just fucking love its third jump and its smash. And the mid-air electric drill is fun for fucking up the framerates. I'm alright at Melee, but I'm at my best on the N64.

I just hope that Brawl doesnt deviate too much from the overall feel of Melee, to the point where its almost a completely different game. I've worked too long getting somewhat decent at Melee to have to relearn everything in Brawl.

Mmmm I use tons of characters well... I like Mario, Dr.Mario, Luigi, Fox, Captain Falcon, Gannondorf, Marth, DK, Yoshi, and JiglyPuff. Though I can use every single character, these are my preffered ones, with falcon, mario, Gannondorf, and Marth being my better ones.

I LOVE grabbing an opponent with DK and then walking off the edge with em... suicide at it's best. Generally used when they just respawned (0 damage) and you are at high damage, so you have a 2 life advantage after.

Also, the key to using gannondorf is in the jumps. You gotta quickly tap the jump button to do a tiny jump (half the size if not less) so you can do mid air attacks even if the enemy is right infront of you. Gannondorf is incredible in the air like Falcon, so you need to master that.

And the most complicated technique is the Wave Dash. You will see all the 'pros' use that. Wikipedia it for more info.

I started using him (it?) for event 51, then i figured out how to own. The rolling attack (hold B) is also good when playing in team combat--its awesome when you have a set-up. Corneria and Hyrule are the best stages. I also use Marth/Roy b/c they have awesome counters and speed.

yeah, i used to say the same thing. It doesn't really come in handy until you play crazy good people and people that rush in for an attack then dodge away. wavedashing gets useful once you figure out how. When someone's coming towards you, wavedash back, then hit em. works awesome with marth, so you get just far enough back to tip em.

fav: falco, marth, pichu, captain falcon, kinda got out of doc.

try to start L canceling too, it gets useful.

I use all the characters, but I am a demi-god with Fox. Untouchable...

Event 51 is extremely easy actually with fox. Just jump around, fire-fox (B+up) a TON, and while they are recovering from it, you throw in some up-smashes, jump out, and repeat. Can win without losing a single life.

Also, yoshi's mid-air down+A is awesome on larger guys cause it does around 50 damage per swipe. Fun.
