Im curious to see what everyones longest song is on itunes/winamp, etc. etc. I'm not talking about comedy, audiobooks, etc. Just music. Currently mine is Bitches Brew by Miles Davis at 27:01.

I'll get Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence at some point, and I think the last song on there is about 48 minutes long.

Kyuss - Spaceship Landing is supposedly a 34 minute song, but its about 11 minutesof music an then about 23 minutes of silence with the odd short hidden track in there.

Technically, the second disc has just one long song on it, but it's split into 8 movements totaling about 42 minutes. So, if you count that, that's my longest song. Aside from that, my longest song would be a live version of Vallejo by Ween, at about 31 minutes.

i dont really like songs that are THAT long. 20-30+ minutes seems excessive.

i can like a 10 minute or so song on an album, but i dont like all songs that long.

anyway...

a7x - Strength of the World 9:15

edit: oh, and dragonforce is an exception.

Wow, I've gotta hunt that one down. Usually You Enjoy Myself clocks in at just over 20 minutes..

Anyway, the longest song I've heard is Delirium Cordia by Fantomas, which is 72 minutes long.

Dude it is so fantastic. About 23 minutes in they start a vocal jam that is the best I've ever heard out of them. Goes on for a few minutes then they stop...more amazing jamming...then they end with another vocal jam. It is awesome.

Boris - Absolutego at 65:34. Not really my cup of tea.

A few more excessively long songs that come to mind:

Devil Doll - Dies Irae (71:49)
Fantomas - Surgical Sound Specimens From The Museum Of Skin (74:16)
Green Carnation - Light of Day, Day of Darkness (60:05)
Mistigo Varggoth Darkestra - The Key to the Gates of the Apocalypse (72:00)

Like I said, excessive. An "epic" (30:00+) song is just dandy if it uses every minute properly, which I don't feel any of the songs listed above managed to accomplished. I suppose that's up for the listener to decide for his or herself, though. Personally, the only super long song I really enjoy Edge of Sanity - Crimson, which clocks in at 40:00 exactly.

Yeah, but the 2nd disc is broken up into songs so it's not really that long. Like, it's all Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence, and on the album it's listed as that and it's 48 minutes long, but when you put in the cd it's broken up into songs, so it depends on how you look at it.

For me I have a 40+ minute bootleg of Dazed and Confused by Led Zeppelin. Can't remeber how long exactly and it's not on this computer, but that's my longest song and I have a few more 30+ minute versions of it and quite a few 20 minute songs and such...

Jaylib - Montreux Jazz Festival 7/11/04

It's a little over 100 minutes. It's pretty much a whole live performance so I'm not sure if it counts. Just the longest thing in my music library...

Real longest song I have would be a live version of lovelight by the grateful Dead. 32 minutes long.

Man I just listened to it, probably the best version of the song I've heard. I used to think the rendition off of 'A Live One' was the best but that was incredible. Trey's solo around the 28 minute mark was really fucking great.

And I haven't seen the liner notes from that Fantomas album Aenema, I obtained it illegaly:cool:
