50 started his career on the mixtape circuit by dissing various rappers and r&b people like Jay-Z, R Kelly, etc. A couple of these people responded and he got attention. He has shitty lyrics, subject matter and everything else, although when he started rapping, he had an excellent flow.

The rest of G-Unit is horrific. Although, The Game (i know he isnt G-Unit anymore) gets the best beats of any mainstream rapper in the world.

50 has a full two songs that are really well written. One is an underground track called "Ghetto Qu'ran" and another is "A Baltimore Love Thing" where he personifies himself as heroin. As heroin, people "fall in love" with him and can't get enough. It sounds funny, but its a serious and good track.
