I want to buy a keyboard and learn how to play and I was hoping someone here could help me. I want something thats a good quality and under $1000. Any suggestions? I don't want to buy something really shitty. Thanks.

Just get a bank keyboard with no presets on it and plug it into your PC via midi port and USB, then download a sequencer. The sounds are on your computer, but activated by the keyboard, allowing easy recording of music and flexibility of sounds.

i have a yamaha psr295, dont go buy a $1000 keyboard if its your first one, buy a cheaper one like no more than $300, justy make sure its at least 61 key and has 32-note Polyphony, and youll be good to go

I'm thinking of getting this:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EWAE0A/ref=sr_11_1/103-5802392-9059052?ie=UTF8

Can anyone tell me if that looks like a good buy?

I used to play keyboard about 7 years ago, then my Yamaha broke down. We've never taken it to be fixed because no-one in our town stocked the machine parts necessary to repair it.

Thanks for making this thread, because I've just made a new resolution to get my keyboard fixed next time I go to Auckland. It's been gathering dust for too many years.

It's ages since I've played - unfortunately I'm not too coordinated so I might not be able to play decently challenging parts with both hands simultaneously. Hopefully, I can develop my coordination, but I think it's something which is more natural than developed.
