Any MAME users here?

i have mame (the windows version) and i was just had a question...If i want to put a rom on mame where do i put the file? i know it sounds like a stupid question, but i've put the roms in the rom folder and some dont work...

there should be a folder for rom. that's where you put your roms. make sure your roms are in its Zipped stage. when you start your Mame program, im not sure which Mame your using, but i use Mame32, you start Mame and "audit all files" on the File menu. with every new game you add to your mame rom folder, you should audit it first.

when it's done, you should see which games are available and which aren't. also, there are different versions of roms for a different version Mame.

there use to be a mame rom site called www.mame32.dk. it was the best mame site around. it had images, description of game, misc. info, etc. for the rom so you know exactly what you're dl. sadly, it's been offline for over 3 yrs now.
