I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I have a regular Netgear router and when and my cousion try to play a game, it doesn't us both to join. I'm assuming it's an IP issue. Any idea how to fix it so we can join the same game?

I don't think you can both join a server together with the same copy of game. I don't think it's the Ip, Might be Game ID.
I might be wrong though.

If its counterstrike some servers wont let two comps join on the same IP to prevent ghosting.

what games you playing?
what speed internet you got?
what Netgear router you got?
If your playing any relatively new game, and your trying to play it with one account then your pirating and the game is stopping you.
If you have a 56k modem or some other stone age shit then you might lag out.
If you have a really old router then it might not work too good with 2 players.

If you set it up for LAN, it doesn't check the IP's.

We'll it's Counterstrike, and we each have our own versions of Steam, so it isn't a pirating issue. Psi, I just connected two comps to a router, how do I set it up as a LAN?

Don't worry about setting up a LAN...you should be good to go. The server is probably blocking entries from two people with the same IP to prevent ghosting, like someone said earlier. Try joining another server or something (One of my roommates and I used to play CS:S on the same server just fine, except you couldn't see anything after you died if the other person using the IP was still alive)

They don't block the same IP because of ghosting.. it's a server CVAR that has a default value of one.
You would have to both have different IP's.. should be able to assign them.
