If you're hosting them from your house.. the pings aren't going to be too hot.. I would recommend renting a server. (Though I'm biased, it's true ;))

No two ways about it, unless you have a godly connection (10 down 5 up) atleast, your players are going to have some shitty pings.

I used to run a dedicated Rainbow 6 Black Arrow server on my spare xbox. That was fun because all my clan was located on the east coast, so pings were low.

Well even if you were on a 100mbit line, the latency is going to be a minimum of 10ms higher due to the fact the bandwidth (network actually.. telco's oversell.. very saturated) is shitty.

But yes, at least then it won't be as unstable as a home connection :]
