In terms of gameplay and graphics, what do you prefer, the Genesis/Megadrive or the Super NES? Personally, I choose the SNES, because there were many fun games for it at that time, such as Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country 2, Sonic Blast Man 2 and Mario Kart. I couldn't really find a game that got my interest for the Genesis.

Super NES was the BEST system for its time. Had all the good RPG's, fighting games and racing games.

Yes...
Sonic is fun, but that's about it for me.

QFT!
SNES, by far.
The amount of fun games for that system is endless.

The 32x was just a rip off, as sometimes it required a Sega CD too. All Nintendo had to do to get 3D graphics was to add an extra chip in the connectors. And viola! Star Fox, Dirt Trax FX, Stunt Race FX, Mega Man X2/X3, and Vortex.
You can see the difference between the graphics and sound. Just look at Mortal Kombat 2 and Earth Worm Jim 2, and compare. The differemce is in plain site.

The only games that used the Super FX chip were Dirt Racer, Dirt Trax FX, Star Fox, Stunt Race FX, Vortex, Doom, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, and Winter Gold.
Games like Donkey Kong Country and Mortal Kombat only used sprites that were drawn to look 3D.
The Mega Drive had its share of games that looked much better than the SNES counterparts. It also had some better versions of SNES equivalents, like Aladdin.

Super Nintendo was, without a doubt, the pinnacle in gaming. I was raised on that stuff...I blame it for giving me ADD though.

No, but there was a Gameboy, GBC, and GBA which people said to have been just like the SNES, as many SNES games were ported to it.
And the Nomad had a very quick death.

We're not talking about Gameboys, though. We're talking about the SNES and the Mega Drive. There was no handheld SNES.
The Mega Drive is much better for playing imports because most of the games didn't have a region lockout. All you have to do to play the different sized Japanes cartridges is cut/file the tabs off the cartridge slot. To play any PAL games on a US SNES you have to modify it. The only way to play imports on a PAL console is to get a converter, or modify it. Sure, you could modify them. But then you'd have ugly switches sticking out the side.
The Mega Drive versions of games were generally better. The SNES had it's classics. But they were only a few, which Nintendo ended up milking for all they're worth. The Mega Drive had lots of great games that weren't forced on consumers as much as Nintendo's "main" games.
I've noticed there's a definite Nintendo fanbase in America, whereas over here Sega was much more popular. The Master System was a lot more popular here than in America, and vice versa with the NES. I can think of three people in my life who used to own a SNES. All the others had either a Mega Drive or Master System.
And the Nomad had a very quick death.
Mine lasts over three hours on batteries, which is long enough for any Genesis game. ;)

I wasn't talking about the batteries, I was talking about the market. Since the Genesis came out before the SNES, it's hardware was a little outdated. The controller is hard to handle imo, and there was very few considerable good games. The SNES had a huge lineup of games that everybody remembers playing when they were young. It was hard to find a bad game for the SNES.
The SNES used all it's features and hardware to the fullest, without releasing expensive upgrades that weren't worth it like the 32x. The Super Scope was always fun to play with, and many game series started on the NES/SNES. The games that are good on Genesis you rarely hear about.
Nintendo's great games weren't forced on us. It's large 3rd party support brought a huge library of games, where someone is sure to find something they enjoyed.

SNES is the winner. I owned both systems during that era. I only had 5 sega games and I had 20 SNES games. I'd say I liked SNES over Sega.
SNES had a better lineup such as Super Metroid, Mario Kart, Zelda etc!
With Sega, I owned Sonic 12 & 3, Joe Montana FB and Power Ball. :)

there's no such thing as "the perfect console" but SNES sure came close. before the SNES, i had the TG16 and TurboDuo which prematurely died in the US thanks to the US Company that ran it. after that, i adobted the SNES and the rest is history.

That's not entirely true. The Mega Drive had a faster processor than the SNES, which meant less slowdown.
The controller is hard to handle imo
I think it's fine. I could never get used to the shoulder buttons on the SNES pad. They seemed really awkward to press. And they weren't used much, anyway. The six button Mega Drive pad is much better for beat-em-ups because it gives controls closer to the arcade versions.
It was hard to find a bad game for the SNES.
Ultraman.
The SNES used all it's features and hardware to the fullest, without releasing expensive upgrades that weren't worth it like the 32x.
Games like F-22 Interceptor and F-117 Nighthawk could handle faux 3D graphics which looked almost as "good" as Star Wing. They didn't need any extra chips.
The Super Scope was always fun to play with
So is the Menacer. It's just as ridiculous looking, as well.
Many game series started on the NES/SNES. The games that are good on Genesis you rarely hear about.
Like I said, there seems to be a definite Nintendo fanbase in America. The Nintendo fanboys drown out anything anyone has to say about Sega.
Nintendo's great games weren't forced on us. It's large 3rd party support brought a huge library of games, where someone is sure to find something they enjoyed.
Actually, the Genesis had 800 odd games in America alone. Including Japanese and European exclusives, it would be over 1000. That's more than the SNES.

Would you have said that about the Sony Playstation?
No, but there was a Gameboy, GBC, and GBA which people said to have been just like the SNES, as many SNES games were ported to it.
The GBA was out years after the SNES, and it took that long to get SNES games on a handheld? The Gameboy was like a black and white NES, and the GBC was the same but with some dull colours. Even on the GBA it wasn't like playing an actual SNES game as there are only two action buttons.
The Game Gear was years ahead of Nintendo, with colour and a backlit screen. You could even play Master System cartridges on it. Its only flaws were a lack of software developers and the battery life. Its like the PSP compared to the DS. The PSP is technically superior but it doesn't have a lot of backing and Nintendo have their die-hard fans.

Yeah, I guess the SNES was ok too. Like in Mortal Kombat where they made the blood grey so it was sweat... gotta love that shit.
