man there are some stupid names...insane clow posse...offspring

Who cares what the name of the band is. As long as they play good music.

i mean you liek that band but ya cant sya there the best

That's why I said "The best band I've heard".

and you know what else were all caught up in this like beatles are the ebst ppl have that fixated in there mind and like they honestly think there is never gonna be a better band then that

If people like the beatles the best, why would you care. It's all a matter of opinion.

britney spears is hte biggest thin out now do oyu honoestly think shes gonna last...i doubt it

Haha. Britney Spears is definately not the biggest thing out right now. But your right, she won't last.

P.S. Your entire post was one long sencence. I had to read it several times to understand what you were saying.

ya thats right!! metallicas old stuff owns!! but the new shit(st anger)...sucks!!Yeah, I consider their old stuff to be anything from And Justice or earlier, although I like a several tracks off the Black Album. Didn't like Load, Reload that much, and I hated St. Anger! What the hell was with that hollow snare? They got their start right around where I live...they were a local band at one time, although I was too young to appreciate them at that time.

Probably one of the most uder-rated, over-looked bands of all time. Complex Lyrics, the ability to Accually SING them (not like the overrated BEATLES). our Lady Peace is definatleyt up there on my list. A top 5 for sure. In terms of talent The Jimi Hendrix Experience must be the best. You just can't compare the guitarists out of bands like Metallica and Offspring to Jimi Hendrix. Don't get me wrong, I like the Offspring etc. very much, it's just they don't have the skills of Jimi. Also, bands like The Darkness or Led Zeppelin. I like to be able to listen to a song and be impressed by the guitarist, to have solos that when you hear, you think, "holy shit". I think that's the problem with most bands these days, no solos.

Anyway; Jimi Hendrix, The Darkness, The Strokes, stuff like that is my favourite.

shizzeh
05-21-2004, 08:17 PM
yeah, solos are great

Dream Theater. Not only do they have three of the best in their fields (John Petrucci on guitar, Mike Portnoy on drums, Jordan Ruddess on keyboards.), but they have a great bassist (John Myung).

Get the song "Under A Glass Moon". If you appreciate progressive music, you should love it.

Sublime

Naw man! You can't name a contemporary band as the best ever! Everyone knows you can't call a band the best ever unless one or more of their members is dead!

 Led Zeppelin was contemporary sometime. And they did used to be heavily criticized (people have compared early Led Zeppelin to Creed as of now). Some band that you now think sucks will be classic in 30 years.
P.S. Your entire post was one long sencence. I had to read it several times to understand what you were saying.

And you people think I have a screw loose! I mean they're not bad, but they can't be mentioned in a best band ever thread. That would be like me saying Third Eye Blind. You just don't say that.

C'mon guys... bands like Slipknot and Disturbed and KoRn and Metallica and stuff... that isn't music. That's just men with guitars in it for the money and to say that they hate everything. As for the topic, there is no BEST band ever. I'd have to say that some of the best bands are a mix of 80s and present day music:

80s

The Outfield
Twisted Sister
Foreigner
Hall & Oates
Rick Springfield
Blondie

Present

Thrice
Coheed and Cambria
As I Lay Dying
Poison the Well
The Postal Service
From Autumn to Ashes
Emery
Story of the Year

* OH, and also... Techno is very awesome music. Some people think that it isn't music, but it takes a good mind to create the music. Remember... music isn't all about sound... it's what the band or artist has to say.

They are very good. I oughta slap the dumbass that put them in the most hated band list.
Jimmy Page is definetly one of the greatest guitarists of all time.

He's not as big of a standout in guitarists as John Bonham is a standout in drummers.

PS - Did you know that Plant wrote the lyrics for Stairway to Heaven in half an hour, while he was drunk, but it took Page several weeks to compose the music? :D

Actually, It was Page who Wrote the lyrics while he was drunk, in his house that was previously owned by Aliester Crowley, who built his house over the ground a church had burned down on, and that inspired the lyrics, in some way, as I recall. he did a lot of drugs.
whatever. I'm insanely bored with that song.

Anyway, for me it's either King diamond (influnenced lots of Black and Death metal bands, Andy la Roque is insamely underrated, I think) on the Metal side of things, but the Beatles really made Rock and roll a household thing and started making heavy mainstream music.
