dont know how the law in whatever country your from works regarding this.

the law regarding rape cases is a complete joke. im not talking sentancing or that but the naming of the person charged with it.this person could be totally innocent but will have their name and photo in the paper or on tv. this is way wrong as he will be ever associated with a rape, also wen a women cries rape she has anonimity even if the case is dismissed.... and in 90% of made up claims of rape the womans right to anonimity is upheld even though she is guilty of making up an horrific accusation that wiil destroy a man life. both the accused and the accuser should remain anonymous until the outcome of the trial,that way if the person is innocent they have the chance of a normal life again

Those of you that read news in Asia would know, but there was a case 2-3 months ago where a lady accused an old man for theft and called for help near an ATM. The 60 year old man got held down by a nearby security guard and several other passerbys and by the time the old man was released, the poor old man died from heart failure due from having his heart pressured when being held down. The lady who called accused the old man for theft has not been found, and she apparently was trying to take money out of the old man's account while he was being held.

It's so easy for women to get away with things these days......

i think the media should take a stand and not name people who are ACCUSED of rape. at least wait until the person has been found guilty (if that is the case) before printing his name/photo. as well as campaigning for the naming and shaming of women who falsely accuse men of rape. it is just not fair, men accused and cleared of rape will never be able to live normal lives unless they move hundreds of miles away and that is not fair as the accusations will always linger

When it comes to crimes or things where it is a man against a woman, the court seems to always think that the woman is right unless proven wrong. Rape casses are one good example. Sexual harrasement is as well. Men have been deamonized over the last couple of decades.

the problem is that most that make these types of threads resort to racial or sexist remarks and do not add anything to the conversation. Then anyone making a legitamite point is seen as sexist, racist, etc.

But on topic, Names should not be disclosed until the final verdict is decided.

In the event that the alledged rapeist is not guilty, his name should not be disclosed, but that of the person who wrongfully accused of someone.
Whoever is at fault, their name should be released so their reputation is tarnished, because people who do that, either rape, or accusing someone of something they didnt do, deserve to be outcasts.

Why isn't there like a thousand scholarships for white males? There was very very few, and of thoes, i didnt qualify still because of my parents financial status. But in the process, i noticed loads of them for minorities, just because someone is black or hispanic dosent mean they lack the same ablities as a white person, Oo, but the black family's great great great grand parents were slaves... but how does that effect the descendant? Oh, you are right, it dosent.
What im getting at is weather you want to see it or not, Minorities get more benifits than just the regular white guy.

Your right. I even saw scholarships for left handed people (again, minority). This is definately a case of minorities getting an advantage over the majority just because of who they are and for no other reason. Same with affermative action. I thought in this country everyone was equal. Guess not.

I must say I agree with the confidentiality argument. But you know, that's something about state/local laws that can be changed. Any of you who thinks that is the way it should be could easily petition the government or write to/call your Congressman, both of which are legal, last I read the Constitution (which was recently, I just took a government class last semester). Seriously, I think you bring about a good point about both parties' names being held in confidence. It really does make a lot of sense.

And hey, before you go around bashing women for getting more priveleges, I work in a job where there are some things women will never EVER get to do, nor will we ever be treated the same as our male counterparts. There are enormous lines drawn between the males and the females in the military, and I've seen it firsthand. So if you want to find a place where men are treated better than women, join the military. Any branch will do. Not that I'm bashing the US military, but it is a sad truth that we women are considered less superior to the men.
