That's pretty impressive, but I wonder what is meant by the suction from the hole causing helicopter crashes. Why would a big hole in the ground cause air to be sucked in?

I was thinking the same thing. I think it creates a vortex or somethin. That would be scary as hell, passing ground level with more falling to do.

I'm not going to pretend to be an aviation expert, but that bit about a hole causing helicopters to crash sounds pretty sketchy to me.

Yeah, I thought cliffs caused thermals or updrafts. But I guess the physics in the case of a perfectly round hole are more along the lines of cool air (being heavier than warm air) will "fall" into the hole, thereby dragging everything down with it.

I think I read about this before.

It was closed down a few years ago. It took 90 minutes for a truck to reach the surface from the bottom. Pretty incredible.

Then u would hit the bottom and ur legs would push up crushing everybone in ur body and decapitating you you would turn into mush

It would so be worth the many minutes of falling XD

Good lord, it seems like the site gets everything from the forum. This thing about this big "hole" was in the picture section a few weeks ago I believe.

I think it's more that people find cool stuff and post it on the forum. Then send it in to ebaumsworld where it takes a while for them to put it up.
