Some places don't have enough room for 1/4 track, I guess...

1/8 calculations show the ET and mph that reflect a lot of how the car can launch and run in the lower gears...It shows a lot about grip, in general terms.
In the 1/4 mile, say a 12-second DSM could match a 10-second Supra up until the 1/8 mile then the Supra smokes the living hell out of the DSM. That is just a reflection of the ability to launch and run fast in gears with high torque...so grippier tires and a better suspension would show much better times and speeds in the 1/8 mile.

Wait until Darc or somebody else comes in and...yeah they should have a better idea lol

I think it puts more emphasis on driver, as I've known a few substantially weaker cars to be ahead, or level by the 8th. That plus emphasis on the setting up of suspension etc.

We used to have a racetrack here that was 1/8th a mile. Damn communist took it away to build a sub-division.

Mostly either zoning restrictions, or not enough space. Either way, you can get a good idea of your 1/4 mile times from running the 1/8. Reaction times and 60 foot are very important.

1/8 mile times are usually included in 1/4 mile time slips anyways.

Reaction times and 60 foot are very important.you mean only in the 1/8 right? i know the 60ft are important in both the 1/4 and the the 1/8, but i dont think the reaction time plays a big part in the overall 1/4 time?

Reaction time might not matter when you are dragging a 120hp civic, but when dragging a 1000hp pro stock, they matter... A lot.

Yes but im sure you dont drag a 1000hp drag car in the 1/8 either.. do you?

I have never heard of 1/8 mile Pro Stock, but I'm not really into drag racing.

I thought you were asking if reaction time plays a big part in overall 1/4 time.

i was.. .to an extent.. either way saying that it doesnt matter for one type of car, but it does for another type of car, is just absurd.. i suppose

i know it all depends if your racing in bracket Racing or not.
if you are doing a heads up, first one across the finish line wins, then yes, Reaction time matters,
but if you are just running to get your best times, then reactions dont matter.. becuase the clock doesnt start Ticking untill you start moving... where as reaction time, just tells you how quick you were from the last orange to the green....

There are too many different scenarios.
