View Full Version : Chrysler Charger
This car might be of interest, the 1970s Australian Chrysler Charger. Midway in size between a pre 1974 compact and intermediate. Top version was a model called the E49, fitted with a 302 bhp gross version of the Australian Hemi 265 ci I6, o-60 6.1 seconds, 1/4 mile 14.4 seconds. , only available with four on the floor in this version, hence the "4" decal on the front wing.

V8s were available, but they tended to be luxo model versions with automatic, plush interior and what not. All the sporty editions had the I6.

wow cool. Nice post man. Never seen a 6 like that with the carbs stickin out the "side". Cool car even tho it's not an 8.
Weber made the triple 2bbl carbs, and the article said Chrysler sent 2 prototype cars to Italy so they could be taken to the Weber HQ and the carbs properly developed for the unique 4.3 Hemi I6. I love the decal on the rear fender, "6 pack Hemi". That car could have been part of a great beer commercial. :D

Do you know, on modern rubber, they are still the fastest accelerating aussie built car, pulling a 13.3, standard!!

You look at the name and the way it looks, and you wouldn't believe that its a 6 cylinder.

the one you want to look out for is the E55, came out with the 340 built to win bathurst, but was de tuned after the government got scared and threatened to not buy any more fleet cars off chrysler, ended out comming out with a tiny cam, auto and a much smaller carby, designed for a luxury market, are about the only of the E series chargers that arent selling for 25k and up.
