Mmkay. I was wondering, since for football we have a nice stereo with a set of big subwoofers in the lockerroom, what are some of the best songs you've found to sound great with heavy bass? I wan't some good thumping. I'm kinda wondering since we usually make a bunch of CDs and play them, and I need to make a good one.

So What by Miles Davis was my pregame song for senior year.

I wrote this about it....

I close the lid of my CD player, hit play. The familiar strokes of piano set in, then the bass. I slowly slide back into my locker, around I see my brothers, all taken over by their own ritual. Some also listen to music, some sit quietly while others chatter away. The conversations cover any number of topics, but rarely the battle ahead. I close my eyes to the soothing trumpet coming in, Miles Davis. My mind is empty, working along with the track titled "So What". Only the faint sounds of my brother's methodically working about escape through the ever-so-relaxing sounds of the album "Kind Of Blue". Six minutes in the rise of the trumpet sends a shiver through my body, goose bumps. The remainder I sit out atop the bare metal cover of my padlocked chest of armor.

Piano sets in again, with a very subtle bass line. Then an explosion of trumpet, my body shudders a second time. The sad tone of the trumpet brings me back down off my musical high. I am back to reality. I open my eyes and stand up. All around I see the same scene as before, my brothers still in their respective trances of preparation. Some are already dressed in all of their armor, minus the bulky helmet, others are stalling without a care in the world. I get undressed out of my street clothes, nothing is left to tie me back in with society. From here on out I am a warrior.

I put on my protective cup, then my girdle. After these I pull up the tight pants equipped with small amounts of armor around the thighs and knees. I bend over and put on my cleats, ankle support equipped and extra traction supplied by metal spikes. I then put my uniform around my shoulder armor, tightly sliding up through into a sense of security. Others I see around me differ at this step, some put their shoulder armor on first, then tightly squeeze their uniform over. Nothing changes the end result. At this point, if my timing is correct, our general yells into our locker room, "Get lined up".

It's time.

I grab my helmet and scurry out of the locker room to the outside world. I have not seen this place in hours, it remains the same while I have changed considerably. I have transformed from a regular member of society into a warrior on his way to battle. My brothers and I line up in two single file lines, captains in front. I take my place among the four captains, and once we are all in respectable lines, we begin our march to battle. The metal spikes of our cleats create a reminding tone of unity with the uniform step of metal to cement. If you are not yet prepared for battle, this is will make haste of your preparation. Our march takes us off the pavement and onto the grass where silence falls, this is the last chance of peaceful thought, the last chance to have your mind anywhere but the battlefield.

We enter the battlefield to spectacular sounding drums, an exciting beat which is rather exhilarating. We circle up and our general gives us one last speech, a speech which not only a reminder of goals, but a reminder of what we have prepared so long for. After he subsides, the captains give it a go, they echo the general's message in a more personal tone.

Then we take the battlefield.

I really wouldn't consider So What by Miles Davis pregame music but it's still an amazing song. By the way kick ass story.

My idea of pregame is getting focused and going over what you need to do. So What is perfect for that.

I hate pregame music that does nothing but blast shit into your ears.

True, True. I also hate when shit is blasted in my ears before a game.

Nine Inch Nails - Starfuckers Inc.

trust me, when you listen to it over a regular stereo it doesnt sound like much, but when i cranked it in my friends' car's sub it was badass.

Also, Sublime, if you want a slower song with some loud bass try "Doin' Time"

Indeed.

Have you got any NIN recommendations? I've never really got around to listening to them until now. I've heard (and like) All the Love in the World, Starfuckers Inc, Hurt, Into the Void, We're in This Together, The Day the World Went Away... and a few others.

The Great Below, ...And All That Could Have Been, Right Where It Belongs, Burn, Terrible Lie, That's What I Get, Wish. I like those NIN songs. I like most everything Trent does though.

Best song to listen with heavy bass... Born 2 Roll by Masta Ace Inc. haha

or BOYS IN DA HOOD by Eazy Muthaphukkin' E (betta axe somebody)

Although I don't like the band much, Tiny Cities Made of Ashes by Modest Mouse rattles the floor in my room when I play it.

Joey Orion reccomended some very good songs.

If you want some heavier, crazier, louder, thrash-like songs, check out:

- Wish
- March of the Pigs (many vote it as being the craziest song to ever be played on radio)
- Gave Up
- Happiness In Slavery
- Head Like a Hole
- Last
- You Know What You Are
- Getting Smaller
- Phyisical (You're So)
- Big Man With a Gun
- I Do Not Want This
- The Becoming
- Mr. Self Destruct
- No You Dont
- Reptile
theres plenty more

For some less crazy and softer songs, try:

- Hurt (you already got that but its worth mentioning again)
- The Fragile
- Closer
- Get Down Make Love
- Everyday is Exactly the Same
- Right Where It Belongs
- La Mer (this song is beautiful, definetly give it a listen)
- The Downward Spiral
- Piggy

Songs that are somewhere in between crazy and soft:

- The Big Come Down
- The Wretched
- Ruiner
- Eraser
- The Collector
- The Hand That Feeds
- Only

And if you arent that fond of Trent's voice, NIN has a lot of instrumentals as well:

- A Warm Place
- Just Like You Imagined
- The Frail
- Complication (sweet bass)
- La Mer

to name a few...

Album-wise, i started with 'With Teeth', most of the people here reccomended 'The Downward Spiral' first and i found out why. 'With Teeth' is an awesome album, but its different than most of Trent's previous NIN work, and i found after listening endlessly to WT, i purchased 'The Downward Spiral' and it took some getting used to, but eventually it became one of my favourite albums in my collection.

If you wanna get the albums, id suggest:
'The Downward Spiral' then 'Pretty Hate Machine', followed by 'The Fragile', and then 'With Teeth'

'Pretty Hate Machine' and 'The Fragile' can be switched if you want though, I got TF first and its an amazing album, i cant stop listening to it. Also get the 'Broken' EP somewhere in there, probably after 'The Downward Spiral' if you like that. 'Broken' is a great thrash album, its very angry and very strangely built with 99 tracks...

Further Down The Spiral is great too, I think even better than The Downward Spiral. Trent has a knack for remixing his songs. His remixes on other ppl's music isn't all that great though. If you've ever seen Man on Fire, basically the whole soundtrack to that is Further Down The Spiral. Plus it has the better version of Hurt on it. Good recommendations, Mount Happy, you always have good ones.

FYI, this thread isn't for classy music and shit. More towards the pump-up side of music.

Anything Rage Against the Machine. Limp Bizkit also has a deep bass and is fairly good, but I know how you all hate the band. Prodigy also has some good bass in their songs.

Well then the Star Wars soundtrack. You can pretend you're a stormtrooper going into battle and then by the time you get on the field, you're ready to shove an ewok up someone's ass if not your own.

lol j/k

I have that one. Have you seen the music video? Bone Crusher must weigh 400 lbs...
