What is music all about?

What do you think music is all about? Is it about emotion and passion or is it about how great it sounds? or is it something else? Personally I will like a song for either one, but I'll go with an emotional one over a great sounding one.

I'd say that music is about how good it sounds because the singer could put all his emotion into a song but if he had no talent the song would still suck and the lead singer wouldnt get across whatever message he was trying for to anyone.

It can be both. If the song is emotional, it can make you think for a while about it, and if it sounds really good, it can make you think about how good and talented the band/singer is.

Music is what ever you want it to be. You can't limit music only to a few choices. It could be used just to vent all your anger and let all your emotions out. Or it could be to just have a good time and kick bak your shoes. Or it just sounds really funky and you can't stop listening to it.

To me music is a way to express yourself and your thoughts...it's really deep when I write lyrics usually. This is how I get a lot of my messages out, and so do other people. It has to sound good(music and voice) too, or everything that the person that wrote the lyrics worked for is totally ruined...but the kick-back songs that you dance or jam 2 are totally sweet 2...couldn't live w/o those!

Music is all about the music. Its not about one thing in particular, its the whole maelstrom. Its about loosing yourself in the music, wether you are playing it or just simply listening, its about falling into the sounds, expressions, quirks and feelings. Great music does not need explaining, it speaks for itself.

music, what is it all about? you would need an extremely smart person to give the best answer. I guess, music is about portraying life. good music has the power to change your life, make you cry, make you tingle, make you want to sing it as loud as humanly possible, and it doesnt really have to relate to you. It depends on each person what music means to them, for the unfortunate people who think blink 182, linkin park, and rap is music, its all completely their loss. But music can teach you alot about life, and if its not, its time for you to wake up, and stop watching mtv and listening to the radio you ignorant masses, and think because its catchy its good, i should slap you! aiyee, hahea, no really, i love music, live performances are the absolute best form of it, and enjoy whatever you listen to
