*Dont turn this into a flamefest if someone rants about why they hate your favourite band*
Also, provide pictures and explanations as to why you hate the band/artist.
Currently, i cant stand these fuckers:
Rascal Flatts (http://www.country2.com/im/eventos/2005/crocri/0610_cmafest/cma/rascal_flatts_2_2755.jpg)
Fuck your boy band country music, you suck, and lose some weight asshole.
The Fray (http://www.littlebigman.com/bandpages/images/fray.jpg)
Look at the douchebag in the front, is it a guy? Looks like a 13 year old dyke, and the lead singer has the stupidest "mohawk" ever.
Big and Rich (http://www.eatanddrink.net/Eatanddrink.net/Promotions/images/Big%20&%20Rich.jpg)
Assholes.
50 Cent (http://www.50-cent.us/pictures/0002_0.jpg)
Makes absolute shit for rap.
Fall Out Boy (http://www.hottopic.com/community/interviews/assets/interview_falloutboy_group.jpg)
Impossible for them to go unmentioned, even with an Austin Powers impersonator singing lead they cant make any good music.
Coldplay (http://image.listen.com/img/356x237/8/7/3/8/718378_356x237.jpg)
Chris Martin is a fag, and they make the same shit music album after album
Linkin Park (http://funweb.epfl.ch/site2005/elcandal/images/linkin-park-028-img1.jpg)
Bitching about nothing, and Chester is a flaming dickhead
Peter Doherty (http://pub.tv2.no/multimedia/na/archive/00202/Pete_Doherty__202236m.jpg)
More famous for being a fucking junkie rather than making music
Dashboard Confessional (http://www.jvcmusic.co.jp/dashboard/biography/img/dc0307.jpg)
This guy cant sing worth shit and their songs make me wanna bash my teeth into a block of cement. "Living life 100%" yea, then stop making shitty emo music.
Simple Plan (http://www.luksorlando.blogger.com.br/simple%20plan%20nem%20ai.jpg)
You just have to look at them to know that they suck.
well thats all i got for now, if i think of more ill include them in another post.
Keep this all in good fun people.

I would add Hawthorne Heights (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/ABPub/2006/04/03/2002908878.jpg). I wish I could cut the writs and black the eyes of every member and fan of this band.

Whats your deal with DT? i can see how you can dislike them, but to rag on them as much as you do. i'd just like to hear your complaints.
Fuck you and your "Jam bands" i don't want to listen to some band called "little feet" play a 50 minute long jam session invlolving nothing but a fiddle and an acoustic guitar. I like to listen to Heavy stuff when i'm stoned, its not that wierd.

I guess nowadays it's "cool" to bash Dream Theater, just beacuse everyone bitches and moans about it being wankery or whatever the fuck they call it. To these assholes, wankery is playing a sixteenth note, which is bad apparently. I can see where people say DT is boring, but I guess it's just beacuse they create music that calls to a higher level of intelect.

The Beatles: I guess I don't really hate The Beatles, but I fucking hate the pretentiousness of some of their fans. I know that every band has at least a handful of douche fans and followers, but nothing irks me quite like the average goon Beatles follower.
Opeth: They would kick ass if their singer didn't suck so hard.
Linkin Park: Maybe this group would have potential if they focused more on unique and not-so-annoyingly-predictable fusion of alt-metal and techno melodies and less on the sissy-ass boy band segments scattered throughout their music. It would also help if they sacked that whiny little cunt Chester the Molester.
Green Day: Make fun of me all you want, but I actually thought Green Day to be a respectable band for a while, even if you don't enjoy all of their albums. I myself happen to listen to and enjoy both Insomniac and Warning, and you've got to give respect to a band that challenges themselves to take different musical directions and avoid sounding stale. But lately they've really been pissing me off, with their pseudo-wannabe-controversial, dumb, bulldozer, idiotically-compiled garbage album American Idiot, as well as the new sissy-ass image they've adopted. I'm not going to accuse them of selling out or cashing in, but they've got a ways to go if they're going to earn back my respect. Besides, any band whose frontman has a "Fuck Metal" sticker on his guitar deserves The Bird in my book. Venom, Black Sabbath and Metallica are better than you guys. Get over it.
Nickelback: Cut your hair back and shave your beard off, Chad. Everyone knows you're not the real Jesus.
The Doors: Morrison was a fucking cunt.
Sugar Ray: Went from kick-ass alt-metal to shitty pop. I'm not accusing these guys of selling out either because I'm sure they're happy and content with the music they're playing now, but that doesn't change the fact that 14:59 and In the Pursuit of Leisure suck and Lemonade & Brownies and Floored are much better albums.
Limp Bizkit: I don't really hate this band as a whole, but Fred Durst ruined any potential this otherwise hopeful band may have had. If they would have just sacked Durst (or better yet not hired the stupid fag in the first place), then maybe they would have rocked...Who knows, maybe they would have been more successful and made it out longer.

There aren't many bands/artists that are truly deserving of my hate, but here they are:
REM.
Did a few reasonable indie/rock albums, then released one album that 'made it big' and they completely disappeared up their own arses. It was if they were almost waiting for it to happen so they could reveal their pretentious, over indulgent and self congratulatory bollocks for what it really is.
U2.
Another band that disappeared up their own arses. This occured around 1986, and they've been stuck up there ever since. Their music since the mid 80's has been mediocre bollocks, "The Edge" has been playing the same chords for twenty years and nobody seems to have noticed and Bono has preached on virtually every political subject under the sun.
You wanna help the starving children of the world, Bono, hmmm.. try selling one of your castles you fucking hypocrite.
The only thing I hate more than U2 are U2 fans. Man, they piss me off too. Every one of them eating up every word Bono speaks as if he's the second coming. It makes me want to puke.
Rick Astley (yeah, I know some of you are going to go look this guy up)
For me he defined everything that was wrong with (British) music in the late 80's. A Stock Aitkin & Waterman creation he represented the most bland, uninspiring, radio friendly pop pap that there ever was. And yet he sold record by the truck load - mostly to teenage girls though, so that's OK. He was commonly known as Rick Ghastly to anyone who cared about music in the late 80's.
Even to this day, the sound of his voice fills me with dread and gives me a headache.

Eh, you bring up some good points, im a recent Tool fan myself but im not the way you describe... I, like you, cant stand when hardcore Tool fans rave about how Maynard is the second coming of Christ and whatnot.
The filler tracks most fans find annoying... Lipan Conjuring on 10,000 Days... just monks chanting, wtf? Who wants to hear that.
The lyrics, for quite a few songs, are very interesting in that theyre open to interpretation and arent always about what they seem to be.
I used to hate them too but I listened to them more and gave their new album a shot and I love em now, but i dont think theyre divine... I know what kinda music you like BigMatt, just thought id give in my personal input with the points you bring up :)

genesis. nothing faggier than this stuff.. music with no balls
mediocre metal bands. it's just boring to me.. looking for a melody is like trying to find waldo and though they supposedly have instrumental "talent" there's still nothing interesting about the music. plus there's nothing cornier than those "growling" vocals... besides genesis.
U2. just really can't fucking stand their music, or bono's stupid charity bullshit.
mediocre east coast bullshit. there's tons of it. east coasters are holding back hip hop at this point and time.

U2. just really can't fucking stand their music, or bono's stupid charity bullshit.
I disagree with you here too U2 were one of the few groups to successfully merge Politics with their Music, that was a huge gamble during a time of selfish decadence. More over for a band in Ireland that saw themselves embattled with the ‘troubles’. Their older stuff like Sunday Bloody Sunday were originally had lyrics so controversial the band agreed to change them for fear they would become a target for terrorists, even then they kept true with the songs basic intent and were able to address some very violent issues. Something that music desperately lacks now is substance. ... but some people can live lyrics that address putting ‘My milk in your coco puffs.’;)

Phil Collins was one hell of a drummer, taste in music aside they took a lot of chances in that era with their music, that’s ballsy. i don't care about technical talent or if he was a good drummer.. i care about one thing and that's how the music sounds. genesis sounds like prog rock pumped with estrogen.
Their older stuff like Sunday Bloody Sunday were originally had lyrics so controversial the band agreed to change them for fear they would become a target for terrorists, even then they kept true with the songs basic intent and were able to address some very violent issues. total bitch move on their part then.
bob marley performed after an assasination attempt with the bullet still inside him to get his message out.. a true G to the core. U2 censored their art out of fear and that somehow is a good thing?

i don't care about technical talent or if he was a good drummer.. i care about one thing and that's how the music sounds. genesis sounds like prog rock pumped with estrogen.
total bitch move on their part then. Then I doubt you’re a musician with any training or discipline, many true artists see through the veneer of what popular and contemporary and see the value of talent and while they may identify with the genre they tips their hat to the skill set. An example would many heavy metal and hard rock guitarists have a great appreciation for classical guitar hell many even study it.
bob marley performed after an assasination attempt with the bullet still inside him to get his message out.. a true G to the core. U2 censored their art out of fear and that somehow is a good thing? Yeah he was a true G his values ended up costing him his life, after all not every artists gets to die from an infected toe and deny treatment.
Don't get me wrong I have a great deal of respect for Bob Marley he too was a person that spoke of high values in his music and was a person that was successful in meshing his politics with his verse but I don’t think you can compare the ‘troubles in Ireland’ to what Bob Marley was facing. U2 was trying to subside the violence by addressing it head on, you can not respect one over the other both addressed the issues they were faced with and those that confronted them.
Let me tell you somethin'. I've had enough of Irish Americans who haven't been back to their country in twenty or thirty years come up to me and talk about the resistance, the revolution back home…and the glory of the revolution…and the glory of dying for the revolution. Fuck the revolution! They don't talk about the glory of killing for the revolution. What's the glory in taking a man from his bed and gunning him down in front of his wife and children? Where's the glory in that? Where's the glory in bombing a Remembrance Day parade of old age pensioners, their medals taken out and polished up for the day. Where's the glory in that? To leave them dying or crippled for life or dead. Under the rubble of the revolution. That, the majority of the people in my country don't want. No more!"

Then I doubt you’re a musician with any training or discipline, many true artists see through the veneer of what popular and contemporary and see the value of talent and while they may identify with the genre they tips their hat to the skill set. An example would many heavy metal and hard rock guitarists have a great appreciation for classical guitar hell many even study it. that's fine and dandy.. but incase you haven't noticed this is about bands you hate.. and I hate bands that sound like that regaurdless of their "skill." to me "skill" is merely the result of practice, and that honestly holds absolutely no value if the end result doesn't sound good. i will not be another wanna-be music dweeb that drones on about technique and music theory. music is an expression of emotions, not a math problem.
Yeah he was a true G his values ended up costing him his life, after all not every artists gets to die from an infected toe and deny treatment.
Don't get me wrong I have a great deal of respect for Bob MarleyYeah, sounds like it. At least bob marley didn't punk out of his original song lyrics.
he too was a person that spoke of high values in his music and was a person that was successful in meshing his politics with his verse but I don’t think you can compare the ‘troubles in Ireland’ to what Bob Marley was facing. U2 was trying to subside the violence by addressing it head on, you can not respect one over the other both addressed the issues they were faced with and those that confronted them.I only attacked that one point in your post cause it seemed like a bitch move to me.. it's beside the point of why i hate them. It's not a matter of not respecting their political cause that makes me hate U2, i just generally find them to be a mediocre overhyped band that gets put up there with all the other overhyped "greatest band ever" candidates like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, and The Who except I don't think their music even holds up to these bands and so they are overrated even among the overrated. The late great taste_u once said "the worst thing a musician can be is average" and that's probably the truest thing ever said on these boards. And that's exactly what U2 were; average. Then again taste_u was a British fag from England that defended both of these bands. Soccer sucks.

that's fine and dandy.. but incase you haven't noticed this is about bands you hate.. and I hate bands that sound like that regaurdless of their "skill." to me "skill" is merely the result of practice, If that was merely the case then everyone that 'practiced' enough could be a virtuoso’s, in fact that simply not the case there are simply people that are endowed with the genius of music. Whether one subscribes to that genre or not I see nothing wrong in holding appreciation for those gifts, something I think most musicians would agree with.
Music is a lot like beer, if you only drink one beer you will never get drunk, I see nothing wrong with sampling a large variety and appreciating them for what they have to offer. Some people on the other are happy with one beer, I like 14 or 15. :D
Yeah, sounds like it. At least bob marley didn't punk out of his original song lyrics. No he punked out of his life because he was afraid losing his toe might affect his ability to dance, now I don’t know how well he danced after the cancer spread to his brain but my guess is that it was much poorer than it would have by losing a big toe.
The late great taste_u once said "the worst thing a musician can be is average" and that's probably the truest thing ever said on these boards.
I don't know about that sounds like something someone who really didn’t know much about music would say, hell look at the musicians that were average and the impact they had on other music, Bob Dylan was an average vocalist but his impact on modern music is legendary, KISS and GWAR are average bands but they created the larger than life rock image and enhanced the stage performance to feverous spectacle. Sex Pistols and Public Enemy were average groups that pushed our social norms. I think that statement underestimates "average".

Reggie, out of all the horrible bands out there to hate with a passion, you choose two talented and fairly innovative groups. I mean it's alright to dislike them, but hating them more than anything? Don't you think there are worse bands out there than Genesis and U2?
Best check yourself before you wreck yourself.

Whether one subscribes to that genre or not I see nothing wrong in holding appreciation for those gifts, great, kool, fine, dandy. i didn't say there's something wrong with admiring skill. i said i don't find it interesting or even useful on it's own. all the fancy language in the english langauge doesn't garantee a great piece of literature, just like all the technique in the world means not a thing if not used correctly, and by correctly i mean so that i, reggie jax, would be proud to call it dope.
No he punked out of his life because he was afraid losing his toe might affect his ability to dance, now I don’t know how well he danced after the cancer spread to his brain but my guess is that it was much poorer than it would have by losing a big toe. he had different beliefs that he stuck with to the end. puss ass niggas wouldn't understand, people think that when death stares you down all your beliefs are put on hold, i guess not for everyone. i'd love to see an atheist with beliefs that solid.

notice the approach here. step one is discrediting the G in question, "really knows nothing about music." also make sure to do plenty of namedropping for increase +5 credibility points "oo the Sex Pistols, hey Bob Dylan! oh cool Public Enemy, hey don't forget Kiss." what an enchanting list of stereotypical names to drop! but most important is to miss the point on some random shit. "hey bob dylan was an average vocalist" yeah, which is why he's not world famous for being a vocalist, he's famous for being a songwriter.
the quote in question aint hard to understand. mediocrity is a disease when you're talking music. terrible can be laughably entertaining, dope is just plain dope.. but average.. average is straight up boring. stagnant. uninventive. wack as fuck.

Nope. You're wrong. Jamiroquai have a unique sound and there are shittier bands than them. They've been around for a long time (and no, not since Virtual Insanity came out), and I'm not a huge fan but I can appreciate what they're doing.

I wouldn't make generalisations like that. ;)
Yeah, the reasons were pretty generalised. You get them with every other genre of music. Generalised or not, I still stand by them.
How can you hate metal?
Well, I don’t hate every metal band, just most. I think theres more to music than shouting into a microphone, being hostile towards one another and playing high pitched guitars. I can’t even understand what the band are saying nevermind the meaning. I think alot of people in the music section limit themselves to one type of genre. I gave metal a try, but it didn't appeal to me. I can listen to pretty much anything besides metal. But whatever, don’t listen to music if you don’t like it.

I hate Tool.
I don't know how they've become famous with their uber fucking pretentious, super out there lame rock. And those "filler" tracks fans rave about, jesus christ...they fucking suck.
I see your point to some extent but they don't exist to make albums. I've read through several articles that they merely produce albums to publicize their concerts. Their albums are OK, but to see them in concert is something out of this world. I'm not some punk as you describe who wears their shirts. Hell I'm 25; I haven't worn a band t-shirt in ten years. I respect your opinion, I"m just saying, they are 100x better in concert than on recordings.
As for this thread....I cannot stand Sean Combs. I call him this because one does not simply change their nickname on a whim. Your name is not Puff daddy, nor P-diddy or whatever it is these days. It's SEAN. And also he made a career of sampling songs and rapping with dumb as fuck lyrics over them. And then he furthered his popularity by combining both said sampling and a song about Biggies death. Nice one cheapskate. Get some real talent you pompous ass. Better yet, go die with James, or should I say "Ladies Love cool James" (LL cool J). Another conceited ass. Who names themself that? Oh and Sean's clothes suck and are way overpriced. Phew...yes this thread is therapeutic. :) I thank you for that.

right..
so unless you are a chef yourself, i suppose you can't complain about crappy food served to you in a restaurant.
or unless you're a mechanic, keep your fuckin trap shut about your car breaking down.
if i had said "genesis sucks because they lack skill" and you made this claim it'd be less out of left field, but seeing that i've said numerous times that i hate them cause of the way their music sounds it's really pointless. i don't need skill to judge music. only ears. i think you know that, and i think this whole argument is purely out of spite anyway.
Yeah one of great artists of all time and he dies because a toes gets infected, nothing glamorous about that, he neglected his health and died for it. it's not glamorous but i respect his beliefs.. they don't believe in amputation.. don't believe in mutilating their own bodies to continue living.. who is that hurting besides themselves that makes you so vigilante on the matter?

i did contradict your claims, you just have to pay attention closely when reading my posts. whatever they were mediocre at was not the field they are famous for. it's like saying michael jordan is an example for mediocre basketball players since he's mediocre himself at playin baseball. it's beside the fucking point. bob dylan was famous for being a songwriter, his vocals are beside the point. the sex pistols are famous for being rebellious twats with punk clothes, their average music is still average and still boring despite their fame. public enemy were below average with chuck d's lyrical skills but the rest of their music was far from average, if you think the bomb squad is honestly an average late 80's production team then what the fuck do you really know about hip hop? gwar and kiss are fuckin performance artists, the fact that their music sucks still stands no matter how good of a performance they give.
and learn the meaning to "plagiarized" before you go throwing it around, chump.

you used shitty examples and then claimed you've displayed your vast knowledge on music. i already said why your examples were shit, somehow that part of my post seems to have mysteriously disappeared from your reply. :ohnoes: I never made the claim I had vast knowledge of music, if you took that from postings that is your own doing. I only replied to your posting that made sense and had some logic too it.
very clever. the height of wit on ebaums forum right there, posting a picture someone else created. "omg think 4 urself" I think the shoe fit. I stand by it.
lol. i AGREED with something somebody said and instead of tryin to pass it off as my own words i gave them credit. fuck off with your condescing shit. "SOME people prefer to think 4 demselves.........  " seriously.. eat a dick. I always find interesting when a person is caught red handed or they lack the ability to defend themselves properly then tend to get abusive. Save the drama… if you have nothing of substance to add maybe move on.
No real need to be flaming like that... seriously man that's just getting out of hand read the rules.

You really are absolutely pathetic.
You debate and banter on petty sub-points but illustrate your comparitive
lack of intelligence by your inability to grasp the 'bigger picture'. You can
pull all the fancy tricks and sophist plays you like, you're still inherently
weaker in this debate and you've been brought to order rather resoundingly.
Then, to top things off, you abuse your petty online power by banning your
opponent, probably because your ego is struck a blow in being so thoroughly pwned.
Instead of embracing such talent you set out to destroy it because you see
it as a threat to your comfort blanket of status.
No one likes a bad loser.
You can go through this post with a fine toothcomb and 'expose' flaws all you
want, that sort of nitpicking is an example of the missing-of-the-point which
shows how inept you are.
All style. No substance. Word is bond.

In all honesty, I think reggie won the argument. His points were more logical. And Chewy, think about what you're arguing for a second; you're basically saying that it's wrong for someone to dislike a certain type of music. Like everything in life, you have to have extremes in both ends. You can't really appreciate how good something is unless you also understand how bad it can be. I honestly can't imagine that there isn't some type of music that you don't like. Whoever that may be, that's your U2 and Genesis.
And banning him? How did he flame? What he said was no worse than insinuating that he and another member are gay, and posting a picture of a man with his head up his ass. That's really, really low. I suppose I should just shut up though, otherwise I'm going to get banned.

I suppose I should just shut up though, otherwise I'm going to get banned. anyone that knows me knows I have big shoulders however, but flaming is flaming and enough is enough, he has temp ban and will be back in a few days. No one gets banned unneeded in here even those that disagree with me. ;)

I understand why you struggle with music, your in a postion where you can't hear it. (http://www.geocities.com/first_line81/head_20up_20ass.jpg)
So how long had the two of you been dating???
Eloquence to it or not, you basically said, "Your head's up your ass," and "You're gay." To me, it seems like you're trying to publicly humiliate a person.
Do I honestly think it's flaming? Not anymore than what reggie said was. This was a debate, and it was fairly civilized (for the standards of this forum). Banning him was childish.

You are freaking absolutely right. Tool live is the most amazing thing. They put on such a fucking great show.

I liked Coldplay better when they were called Radiohead.
I agree on the crazy Tool fans. Though Tool is one of my favorite bands, i dont preach about it. I mainly listen for Danny Carey's drumming anyways.
Straightedge bands. As Bill Hicks said, bands who rock against drugs suck.
Sliptknot. Overrated, too many band members. Not that more than 4 or 5 members make a band suck, but only 4 of them really play.
UnderOATH. Forced screaming. Drummer adds in technical riffs to make it sound like he knows what he's doing. Friends saw them live, they apparently put on a good show. "show" being the keyword. The keyboardist is unneeded, and basically is in a relgious seizure the whole time.
Wolfmother. Mainly because they say their classic rock and everything. Your supposed to take your influences and create something different, not sounding exactly the same. As for their "classic rock" title. When your on 3 different commercials and overplayed on the radio, the spirit of classic rock is ruined.
Avenged Sevenfold can sometimes be overrated, but their instrumentation in some songs is great.
Fall Out Boy. Nuff said.

I can agree to a certain point, but some classic rock songs are the most overplayed music in the history of radio. How many times do you think I hear 'Stairway to Heaven' or 'Freebird' on the handful of classic rock stations around here. A fucking lot. I'm not trying to say those are bad songs either.

The title of this thread is, "...bands you hate more than anything..." Well no, fucking shit. It's okay for them to bash other bands? Oh but when they bash a band you like, you've got to get on your soap box? Get over yourself. The same goes for whoever else decided to go all e-warrior in an attempt to defend your favorite band. I hate Tool.
I don't know how they've become famous with their uber fucking pretentious, super out there lame rock. And those "filler" tracks fans rave about, jesus christ...they fucking suck.
Oh I know how they've become famous...Tool fans. I hate those dudes (and yes, they're always dudes) who wear the Tool shirt everyday and always rave about how deep the band is. "OMG just listen to the lyrics" "best lyrics ever"....fuck that shit, you fucking TOOL.
And why is the typical Tool fan the guy that nobody wants to hang out with? Greasy hair, lame personality, angry...not any fun at all.
Dream Theater/LTE/ avenged sevenfold/ other pseudo metal bands:
Stop playing so fucking fast, it doesn't sound good. I don't want to sit in my room jacking off to how fast you can play guitar, I want to hear some art.
As much as I love Tool, I'm going to have to agree on one part. Some of the fans are ridiculous though. I've met some who are really cocky and stuck up assholes. Being a Tool fan, I consider myself as a fun and outgoing person, up for anything.
About the filler tracks, yes some can be annoying and pointless, but I think they are unique becuase no other band does that. I can see where you're coming from, not knowing them that well.
I have a great taste in music too, not into any mainstream rock. I'm against all of that shit. You have to admit Tool is better than really any rock band as of now. They are against all of that MTV bullshit.

Hahaha. Right. How can anyone admit to something like that? Tool is alright, but there are plenty of other "modern" bands I would rather listen to.
Mount_Happy
10-02-2006, 02:26 PM
Tool isnt really all that modern to begin with, theyre a band of the 90's primarily. 10,000 Days was easily one of the best releases of the year though, and they definetly have grown as a band into a more progressive sound, very unique.
