The analog sticks felt smoother and "floated" more loosely than the sticks on the PS2 controller (images courtesy GameVideos.com)
Ever wonder what it's like to hold the PlayStation 3 controller in your own hands? Lucky us: we recently had that very opportunity while playing the latest version of the PS3 action-fest Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom.
Our first impressions were good. The entire controller felt surprisingly light; possibly 25% lighter than the current PS2 controller. It's possible that this lighter feel is related to the lack of force-feedback "rumble" support, but that's unconfirmed.
The small red LEDs display wireless player information (top); conflicting reports regarding the center button (bottom)
The directional pad feels softer, more tactile, than the slightly stiffer pad on the PS2. But it gets better: the new analog sticks responded more smoothly to thumb input, and felt slightly "looser." We're guessing that these new analog sticks will make first-person shooters much more playable; they certainly worked well for Untold Legends.
Shot of the USB connector and LEDs (top); the USB attachment cable (bottom)
The face buttons felt identical to those on the stock PS2, but the shoulder buttons have received a welcome tune-up. The L2 and R2 triggers are now oversized and "squishy," making them feel more like analog triggers. We actually preferred these redesigned L2 and R2 triggers to the slightly stiffer Xbox 360 triggers, but that will ultimately be a matter of personal preference.
We've heard mixed reports on the small PlayStation insignia that rests between the analog sticks. One source told us that the button worked as a "home" button for menu navigation, ala the Xbox 360. Sony Online Entertainment's Nicholas Beliaeff, the Director of Development fo r Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom, told us the button was used to sync the wireless controller to the PS3. Either way, we can't confirm for the time being, as Sony hasn't clarified.
All in all, it was a surprisingly positive demonstration of a slight overhaul of one of the most popular gaming controllers in video game history. More updates soon!

Why does everyone think that the 360 was first to make a "home" button on a console? SONY DID IT FIRST.... Hello??????? PLAYSTATION PORTABLE ANYONE??

When did it say that the "home" button was first used on the 360? It just said it was like the 360. Calm down.

It's not a 'Home' Button, it's a 'Guide' Button. Plus the 360 was the first to do it on a Console. And while we're on this subject, anyone seen the PS3 Home page/startup screen? Yeah, they took the PSP's Home Screen thing, I'm officially giving up on any Sony Console until they re-convince me in the Next-Gen.

I am extremely happy Sony reused the PSP's start-up screen, because it would work damn well with the PS3. Lastly, the PSP is connectable to the PS3, and it would be confusing to transfer files over between them when they have two different start-up screens, now wouldn't it?

Motion Sensors
Blue-Ray playing (Which means more space to store)
7 cell processors (the 8th one is a nice backup)
Linux
60 GB HDD
Free online play
PSP Connectivity
Backwards Compatibility
Make it worth the price. People are bitching about it's high price but Sony is the one losing here. It costs more to make the unit. Atleast they take a nose dive in pricing just so it can be a little more cheaper. Blu-Ray Players sell for over $1000's of dollars, so it isn't expensive if you think about it.

Motion Sensors It works in a 2D Motion, it's a gimmick on the PS3, the Wii is the only real reason Sony added this thinking they could get interest into their Console. It's not up to Par with Nintendo's full 3D enviroment Motion Sensors.
Blue-Ray playing (Which means more space to store) True, but not when it comes to the PS3. I'll explain in a second.
7 cell processors (the 8th one is a nice backup) That act primitive. Sure, there's lots of them but they can't do much. When you refer to the CELL + BluRay being next Gen, read this Here (http://forum.ebaumsworld.com/showthread.php?t=155252)
Linux *Cough*
60 GB HDD Both the PS3 and Xbox 360 will have upgradable Hard-Drives, this is un-important because larger ones will be out soon.
Free online play The 'Free' part is where it fails. You really think Sony is gowing to blow Millions and Millions of Dollars to give as greater Online Play as Xbox Live? No.
PSP Connectivity I don't really see how this makes the PS3 worth any money at all. Are you saying you need a PSP to have a good enough reason to buy the PS3
Backwards Compatibility So does the Wii and Xbox 360.
Hey, look. What you said doesn't make it worth the Money. The only real thing is MGS4...Which isn't really worth $600.

I mean, from a literal standpoint, you are absolutely wrong. It had a bluRay player. Which retails for $1,000. That alone makes it literally "worth it". You can argue which console is better all you want to, you might not want to pay 600 bucks for a PS3, but the fact of the matter remains, it is literally "worth it."

In my opinion, buying any blu-ray player is not "worth it", for two reasons:
1) It's round 2 of the old VHS vs Betamax fight, and sony lost the last time. EDIT: Actually, they tend to lose whenever they introduce proprietary media (MD, Memory Stick, UMD etc). Investing in cutting edge technology is reasonable for hardcore fans and enthusiasts, but when there is only a 50% chance that the technology will even be around for more than a couple of years, it's ridiculous.
2) I usually don't wear my glasses anyway, so I "see" in DVD quality tops.
Call it a bargain if you want, but $600 is $600.

Let's do a little math. You buy a 360 core system.
Wanna play Xbox titles. You need the hard drive. +$100
Wireless controller. +$50
Xbox Live 1 year online play. +$50
Just that equals $500. You know what else equals $500? The first package of a PS3! Except the PS3 has the Blu-Ray, 20GB hard drive instead of 10GB, Linux, free online play, and better PSP connectivity.

You won't be seeing any difference in Graphics at all, both the PS3 and Xbox 360 have the almost exact Graphics...The only difference comes with the Games depending on how much detail the developers choose to use.
The BluRay on a PS3 doesn't makeit any better. If you cunts actually took your time to read my last Post. There was a Link, a link to prove this wrong.
BluRay is only there for the Quad Layer Discs (100Gig) Because IBM fucked the CELL Processor up because it can onl Decode and run on the MPEG2 Format which is something like 30x the size of H.264. Now imagine a MPEG2 HD Movie...Now thats pretty fucking big. This is why Sony need BluRay...Because of it's size, at the moment HD-DVD has larger Discs Which means Not only can it fit larger Movies (meaning better quality because the Xenon can actually run H.264) which coincidently means HD-DVD gets a 1-2 Year quality (Size + Quality) headstart.
Quit being a fucking retarded fanboy. Yeah, actually what he said is quite worth the 500/600 dollars. Fair enough, that's fine. I wouldn't argue that at all. But there's a big difference between saying paying $600 for a PS3 literally isn't worth the money and saying that bluRay is gonna flop so buying any player isn't worth it in the long run. I won't argue that.

Let's do a little math. You buy a 360 core system.
And my friend bought a 10 GB for $100. This kind of stuff needs to be bundled with the cheapest one.
Ok, you buy a Premium system for $400.
Now, we need to play some online games. Xbox Live +$50 a year.
And as I said with the core system with the wireless controller, it would leave you with 2 controllers. Now you could buy an extra one which will make it $500, but I won't do that. What about Linux, and it being pre installed. How about plugging your PSP games in and playing them on T.V. as a controller. What about a web browser out of the box? BRD, DVD, PS2, and PS1 playback, a better cooling system, and most likely dramatically less bugs because of a non rushed release. And 3D motion sencing on the controller makes it awesome as hell. All controllers are wireless.
That signifies a good $50.

And I knew you'd reply with that as your 'justifiable' reason. The only good enough reason to buy the PS3 is it's exclusives, but it still costs $600. I would rather have the same story/gameplay/whatever if it were last gen or the gen before graphics because $600 for the same graphics as the 360 is just retarded.
You said a good enough reason to buy a PS3 is the 'Free' Online Service, that's why I argued and brought it up. It's free which is a good play by Sony but I'm just sick of ignorant fuckers over the Internet that continually over hype it.
I said they 'Cop13d |\/|S, j00 Suck'? As I recall it I said they lack innovation, what makes the PS3 games fun that hasn't been done last gen or that they've delayed to add onto their product? The only thing that is going to make a PS3 game fun is the game itself (storyline, gameplay) which has been done for the past 30 years.
Look dumbshit, I read your fucking link about how the BluRay player won't make the PS3 any better. Look cockguzzler, your paying for an overpriced DVD player. Do you understand the difference between a MPEG2 and a H.264 Movie now?
PS3's BluRay = MPEG2 (DVD)
An over the BluRay Player to plug into your TV = H.264 (BluRay, HD DVD)
Compare that to the HD DVD Player:
Xbox 360 HD DVD Player = H.264
Over the counter HD DVD Player for your TV = H.264

Worth $600? Hmm lets see. The RSX core inside the PS3 is going to be more powerful than the 7900GTX. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814143062.
Theres $475+ (next gen after 7900) just on the video card. Buying an equivalent to the PS3 in Computer parts would put you near $800 (Not including 6/7 of the processors or the Blue-Ray player). It's worth $600 with the best of the exclusive lineups (sounds familiar).

Over the counter HD DVD Player for your TV = H.264
oh............ok then :D
I thought it was saying that relating to gameplay it was bumped down, but when it comes to just playing stock BluRay DVDs, movies for instance, it was a straight up BluRay player, my mistake.
So, seeing as I just got owned, I'll change my stance. Let the fucking thing come out before you claim that is isn't worth it. Everything that is being said right now, for and against the PS3, is just theoretical. Get a controller in your hands and play the thing. Then we'll see who has the better system. We can, and have, argued until we're blue in the face over which one will be better. It's obvious that both companys have done smart things and stupid things, only time, not biased web articles, will tell who comes out on top with the better system.

I thnk sony will make up for microsofts mistakes because the 360 was too rushed for the christmas season and its not even fully backwards compatble.
Think before you post. The 360 is compatible with every original xbox game, but microsoft has installed software so you can only play certain licensed titles. A simple softmod will allow you to play any xbox game you want

If I were to Mod my 360 using this (being a soft mod), would my 360 Serial be blocked from Live? Most Mods get you blocked, but seeing this is only small would it keep me connected?

No, the 360 has to emulate every xbox game you play, the PS2 can play all PS1 games because it has the PS1 chip in it.
