Go Frost spec. In the first 20 lvls or so you'll want gear that is "Eagle" that way you get intel and stamina boosts. At least that's how I played my mage and she's pretty good. Also do Herbalism/Alchemy if you want to make money.

Oh yeah, what server are you on? lol I may have a char on there to help you

What great advice

I have even better advice, start frequenting gay bars in your local area, that's where all the pro wow players hang, I'm SURE they'd be happy to give you some uh... "tips".

It's pretty non-conformist to hate a video game just because it's popular. I salute you e-goths.

I don't hate WoW because it's popular, I hate WoW because I've played every single MMO on the face of the planet, and WoW was a fucking waste of money. I bought WoW and a 3 month game card, and I couldn't force myself to play into the 2nd month, so I cancelled and let the remaining 2 months die off. There are so many MMOs out there that are better in any aspect that you could possibly be looking for specifically, there's no reason to play WoW.

WoW's popularity is due to Blizzard's "good name", the longevity of the Warcraft series, and something called the "DOMINO EFFECT". When it comes down to it, WoW is a mediocre blend of all the other MMOs out there. Ask yourself what you REALLY want in an MMO, and then do the research and find an MMO that focuses on that type of gameplay.

However, if indeed you want a game that is overcrowded with stupid fucks and lacks distinction, WoW is the game for you. And in that case I encourage that you play it, so you don't ruin the other good MMOs for the people that currently enjoy them.

EDIT: I like how the guy with a black and blue bleeding devil eye Avatar is calling us e-goths (for not liking popular games), when my Avatar is of one of the most popular racing games ever... (I know I know, your icon is from NWN, but it's still more e-gothfag than anyone else here.)

All hail the age of hyper-industrial anti-gravity racing!

Yeah, it's better than going through a confusing puberty thinking you're alliance your whole life, and then realizing that all you want to do is be with the horde. You'll need the support of close guildmates to pull through.

lol... hopefully you're sharp enough to understand the context of that paragraph.

Heh, I liked it for the first two weeks. But, you need a friend to play with on it or it gets repetitive.
I stopped playing after a month because of he repetitiveness of it.

The reason I probably didn't like it as much as the people still playing it is because I used to play on a network of people who would create their own little 32-bit games. They had a game exactly like it called Mystic Journey. Then they started making people pay to play on it and I left.

Advice: Don't play WoW.

lol agreed. Kiss your life goodbye if you want to be competitive at it.

Fuck man, dont listen to these people telling you to not play it or get a life or get a girlfriend. You can just play it to have fun, experience new things, talk to people, and just chill. When I used to play I only played when a) When I woke up. b) When all of my friends were heading home so I had some time before bed, or c) When I was sick or my friends werent doing shit. All you have to do is balance the game with real life. Dont ditch your friends to play.

And the whole thing about needing to devote your life to it if you want to be competitive is bullshit. MC run will be about 2-3 hours and MC gear is pretty damn competitive. You do that once or twice a week and your fine.

Try out the game, make a mage, join your friends, and have fun.

Obviously if you dont have a social life it wont ruin your life. Just play it when you're not working like I do. I get home from work and play it until somethings interupts it.

I have been playing the game for several months now, as long as you can get a good group of friends to play with it stays fresh enough. I have been playing the battlegrounds quite a bit lately, the level 60 bracket is the best IMO. Also get in a good guild, so you can do the larger dungeons and the world events etc, this is where a lot of the main difficulty lays in the game.

My main is a 60 mage on the Arthas server.

Find a healer to level with. AOE plus dedicated heals should definitely let you chain a shitload of XP in a short amount of time. I had a mage friend who I leveled with from my high 20's to mid 30's. Paladins take a long time to heal, so priests are probably better; I'm a paladin. We did a lot of high-level quests, occasionally calling in guild members to help.

Heh heh. Alliance, in my experience, is a lot more friendly than Horde. With them I hear a lot more flaming than Alliance.

Also, Alliance ends up talking off subject in the LFG chat more than Horde. Hell, I was coming back from SM at one in the morning and the chat was filled with political debate.

Yeah Horde chat sucks for the most part, just get into a good guild with cool people and ignore the other chat. Unless you want to lose almost all of your pick up group BG's

lol! Yeah, good ol barrens chat. If you ever want to smack the barrens chat into a lively debate about politics, religion, healthcare or our existance in this universe, just spam the phrase "chuck norris" a few times.

1 month and a half is a lie. Unless you joined a guild whos hunters were already geared and all the GS that dropped defaulted to you. If not, dkp proves this timeline false.

Yeah... Maybe youve been 60 for a month and a half now, but even then your guild would have to be raiding a LOT.
