Adobe Audition 2.0

I just baught Adobe Audition 2.0, which is the same thing as Cool Edit (only newer). Some of my pranks have static in the background, and a little bit of echo. Can anyone who uses this program, or Cool Edit, give me a few pointers for cleaning up the sound?
