Xbox 360 Owns Football: http://www.news4gamers.com/industrynews/NewsCom-7084.aspx

This is a MASSIVE blow to Sony! Football Games sell like Hotcakes over here in Europe and everyone you buys either an Xbox/Playstation have at least one or the other (FIFA or Pro Evo/WE). These two Titles are the 2 biggest earners in the European market and the Xbox 360 just got both. Imagine American Football/Basketball/Hockey all rolled into something like an entire entity for you Americans. I think the Wii has some Mario Football exclusive so It means nothing to Wii owners.

After Sonys miserable E3 showing, they didn't even bother at Liepzig: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=19300

It's rare for a videogames show - be it E3, TGS or any other event - to have clear winners and losers from among the top publishers and platform holders. In general, there are positives and negatives on all sides. Take this year's E3 for example, where despite the strong media backlash against Sony's arrogant attitude in their press conference (not to mention their price point), the firm did succeed in showing off a surprisingly polished array of software both in playable and trailer form.

This year's Games Convention in Leipzig is an exception to this rule. There is a very clear winner, and a very clear loser, in the Leipziger Messe this week, as 150,000 consumers are currently finding out - and hundreds of press types have already discovered. The winner is Microsoft. The loser, by means of shameful default, is Sony - whose utter complacency has now reached the level where it couldn't even be bothered putting on a press conference or making any meaningful next-gen related announcement at Europe and the world's biggest videogames event...

I guess this is good news after what the Sony Execs. having been saying lately. When reading the Article I was expecting some biased view but it seems pretty honest. The fact that Sony just lost a massive portion of the European market after losing out on both FIFA + Pro Evo/WE might be their reason for this.

PS3 to cure Cancer: http://www.engadget.com/2006/08/23/playstation-3-to-join-folding-home-for-cure-ps3/

There's no denying it, even though the PlayStation 3 may be the most late, most expensive, and most, um, well ventilated of this this generation's consoles, Sony's also going out of their way to make the device appear as versatile as possible. So hell, if your machine is going to burn energy when not in use, best to put that power suck toward a good cause, right? Stanford and Sony have announced that PlayStation 3s will be able to participate in Cure@PS3, making gamers' consoles massively parallelized computing nodes for the Folding@Home project. (You're on Engadget's Folding@Home team, right?) Right up top is a taste of the eye candy that awaits those who dedicate their Cell processor to stamping out cancer with the Stanford crew, but the veneer doesn't stop there: click on for a slew of sexy new PS3 pics that just surfaced.

FINALLY!!!!!! A positive point to the PS3! No denying it's been a good year since we had some positive PS3 News. This is quite big actually, when your PS3 is Idle it goes into a Mode and runs a large number database and slowly decodes it (at fast speeds) and then send it over it's WiFi to a larger database, all in one software package already installed onto the HDD. The only problems are:

1. It's not optional whether or not you want it on your HD (though you can stop it running).
2. It's going to use alot of power to run the speed it needs to to have enough effect for it to matter.

It leaves me with one question though. If the CELL Processor is capable of curing cancer...Why can't it decode MPEG4?

Xbox 360 Price Drop: http://www.game.co.uk/ViewProduct.aspx?cat=11276&mid=327856&cm_mmc=game-_-xb360-_-xbcore-_-system

Another blow to Sony and Nintendo I guess. Nintendos Wii is 185 GBP (My quid sign broke) and now the Core Xbox 360 is 200GBP and the Core PS3 is 425 GBP. So:
185 Wii
200 Xbox 360
425 PS3
All Core (I might need to check that Wii price, it may be the Premium one)

I have no news for the Wii except new Game footage from Liepzig. I'll probably make a new Thread on the Games.

Xeoset, for all your gaming needs. Lawl.

Cures Cancer u say?

Not cures it, runs miniscule decoding which helps the cause. It's very limited and can only do so much, but hey, every little helps.

Folding@Home is a great cause, and helps in a pretty big way. I hope Microsoft does this, as I'd love to put my Xbox 360 to work haha. I use it too little on my comp, and shut it off a lot. If they don't do it, I will be shocked. I'm almost positive Sony can't buy the rights to it, cause it would b e A. Selfish and B. Pointless, as the more people using it the more succesful it will be and lastly C. It's not profitable/student run I believe.

I forsee alot of dissapointment within the eBaums Forums come November :p

Folding@Home is a great cause, but like I said they'd have to constantly update the software with new codes for each PS3 to decode which takes alot of time and money (Which Sony isn't paying for, F@H have to) which is my only bite at it.

Oh and I don't think it's fair saying Microsoft should do it because look at Bill Gates, he's THE biggest donator to Charity and has made it his Job now. Plus when he dies, something like 95% of his earnings go straight to charity.

xeoset, you kind of hate anything thats not xbox360 dont you ...

but anyhow i like how you rate a system thats not out yet, not even really finished, with such confidence that most people only usually gain via long term experience.

Are you fucking retarded. I'm buying a Wii at launch and will eventually buy a PS3 when I get the Money and/or a Price drop occurs. What the hell do you actually have to base on what you just said. Because I posted 2 good things about the Xbox 360 and only 1 about the PS3. BooHoo.

No because you constantly say bullshit about a console that isn't even out. And I seriously doubt you'd get a ps3 since you've said millions of times that all of the games suck except MGS4, but even then you said that the MGS series gets old even if they change the scenarios and environments...

Anyway, EBWF cures cancer too.

So far, on every Thread/Argument I've made on the PS3/Wii and Xbox 360, I've used facts and when appropriate I've used my personnal opinion. How is this 'Bullshit'? Oh yes, because you don't like bad news about Sony.

And yes, I'll be buying a PS3 when I have the money and/or a Price drop occurs. Do you have a problem with this?

You just negated a high point about the PS3

GTA has always been a timed exclusive on the Xbox. Now there is no longer any form of exclusivity. So what apparently has a happened now.
Plus that link also says it's exclusive, just timed for the Christmas Season, which is the highest selling point in the game industry. Plus they won't be able to advertise Sony's logo come Television Adverts until it's actually released so there itself.

Is there a XBOX 360 price drop in America? Best Buy is still charging $300 and $400.

Well it's dropped over Europe and the Games have dropped down to the Standard 40 GBP/80 Euros I think (Quid signs fucked). Looked around some American distributors websites.

Are America starting to get some things later than Europe now? E.g the coloured DS's? If so, I'm glad I'm English :boink:

Not so quite, excluzive. Konami just called out M$

GC 2006: Pro Evo and FIFA Not so Exclusive?Konami to Microsoft: "BALLS!!!"by Tal Blevins

August 26, 2006 - Seems like there's a little confusion floating around the world about at least one of the announcements Microsoft made at the German Games Convention this week.

In their GC press conference in Leipzig that we attended, Microsoft specifically announced that the next iterations of Pro Evolution Soccer and FIFA would only be available on the Xbox 360 for the next 12 months. Given that their press conference was held on August 23, 2006, you would assume that means you would mean Xbox 360 had Pro Evo and FIFA exclusively through August 23, 2007.

However, shortly after the press conference, Konami denied that there was a 12-month exclusivity deal in place for the Pro Evolution series.

We interviewed Pro Evolution Soccer producer Shingo "Seabass" Takatsuka today and he told us that next-gen version of Pro Evolution Soccer 6 would be exclusive to the Xbox 360 through the end of the year, but not for 12 months. He also confirmed that a PlayStation 3 version of the game was already being worked on, and would most likely be released in spring or summer of next year, although no specific release date had been confirmed as of yet.

Seabass also made it clear that the current-gen versions -- PC, PS2, DS, PSP -- will all still be coming out at the same time as the Xbox 360 version.

Konami Japan went so far as to release this statement (translated) to explain the situation:

"There are some articles (or some statements which could lead to the misunderstanding) at some websites and other sources stating that Konami's soccer game Pro Evolution Soccer 6 will be released as an exclusive Xbox 360 title. However, this is not true. Pro Evolution Soccer 6 is being developed for multiple platforms so that many consumers will be able to enjoy it."

According to what we've heard from EA representatives at the show, the FIFA deal seems to be similar, and there could be a much shorter window of exclusivity than what Microsoft originally announced.

Well, it's not coming to the PS3 then? Which still is pretty big. People are going to want to play a Football game over hear in Europe (a SHITLOAD of people because of it's status over here) and the only way it'll be able to be played on a PS3 is buying the PS2 version. So why would I go out and spend $600 on a console for a last Gen game, which I could just play on my last Gen console? And if poeple want the Graphics and the fully utilized online experience, they could buy a CHEAPER Xbox 360 and play it on that. It's still a problem for Sony's PS3, not so much the PS2.

EDIT: Read this, you'll see Konami actually started it themselves and had to release the above statement because their OWN employee got it wrong.

No...they are saying they will release it for PS3 when the game is done being developed. The only thing adding to any time difference is development, not any exclusivity. And since they are taking their time to develop it solely for the PS3, and not just carbon copy the xbox360 version. It's a definite possibility that it will be better then the 360 version...we shall see.
