Alright this thread is about skype™.

Pretty much skype™ is an online-phone. You can call anywhere in the world forever. All you need to use it is a mic (doesn't need to be a headset), and like Windows 2000 and up. You can download skype™ Here For Windows (http://www.skype.com/download/), Here for Mac OS X (http://www.skype.com/download/skype/macosx/), and Here for Linux (http://www.skype.com/download/skype/linux/).

I'm now going to clear up some rumors about skype™.
You can't be traced. It's impossible. Even if some one reports the number either

The cop isn't going to believe some ones number is 100101010010101101
They will try to trace it but it's impossible because it's a computer, and it's just impossible.

Yes you can use skype™ as a house phone!
ThinkGeek™ has come up with a cordless phone that connects to your computer.
Phone (http://img177.imageshack.us/my.php?image=internetphonewn6.jpg), Stand, Charger ect. (http://img177.imageshack.us/my.php?image=internetphoneaddltm2.jpg)
You can purchase this phone right Here. (http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/avcards/7cf5/)

And here (http://www.skypetips.internetvisitation.org/index.html) is a site that has all the skype tips you need.

Skype Mics

A good cheap mic to use would be a Logitech® Desktop Microphone (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=103,CONTENTID=8556)

I hope this clears alot up.

I don't think anyone in this section doesn't know about this but the extra info is good. The skype calls to nonksype users wont be allowed after December btw.

I tried downloading skype from skype.com but it only get to maybe 22 percent downloaded when it suddenly stops and a message "files corrupted, please download from another source" pops up. This ever happen to any1 else? Any ideas?

Here is a little more info.If you just make out going calls uncheck the box that says use port 80 and 443 as alternatives for incoming connections(Tools\Options\Connection).If not it leaves them wide open all the time useing skype. If you goto www.grc.com and follow the sheilds up links a window will come up with your IP#.Then click the proceed button, pick common ports to probe.Check and see what ports come up open.Do this while Skype is running. If you have that box checked for 80 and 443 and all your ports are stealth let me know how you did it.Thanks

I just downloaded skype, , but it says I only have 5 minutes of free landline calling. Does this mean I have to buy minutes, because I thought it was free.
