I didn't want to discuss this too much in my Frasier s/b thread too much so I thought I'd begin a new thread.
Am I right in thinking that although small, the Joe Pesci s/b's currently around are comprehensive enough - the only major problem is sound quality? The reason I ask is that I don't have the resources for a huge board like some of the ones I've done.

Yes the sound quality is the major issue - some Joe Pesci soundboards have terrilbe audio quality.
The only other thing missing really is basics like Yes/NO, hello and maybe a name or two (maybe not all those things would be possible, but I'm sure some are). And of course a little music would be nice.
There are at least 4 different Joe Pesci soundboards out there but they all suck :banghead:

edit also the other don't have any of his rapping or singing in them:

The boards have a good selection of sounds and a good character in Joe Pesci, just the sources and method of obtaining the sounds is poor. There really shouldn't be an excuse for poor audio quality for a movie or tv actor, as there are DVDs to use. I don't know what kind of DVD rental systems you have in England, but here NetFlix delivers them right to your door and its pretty cheap. I would rent 2-4 movies that have him in the primary role and use that. It would be take some time to go through the whole process though. It's a pain in the ass.

I have been meaning to get hold of the first 2 Home Alone's anyway. I'm thinking with all of the really offensive shit from Casino I'm probably be able to fill in the blanks with those 2 films. What do you think?

Those films sound good. I just looked up Joe Pesci's tv/film appearances and a few might have quality material, such as his appearances on SNL (Saturday Night Live) and Goodfellas. I don't really watch all too many movies, so I don't know what other movies have him in a major role. Here are his appearances...

I dunno but i think all 3 are fantastic. Just hope there is a movie out there with him asking someone to hold.
I've never seen a soundboard where you can put someone on hold :wah:

Try to get some name quotes. Most of those Pesci soundboards have great swearing lines, but no good names lines. Also make sure you have all the basics like the words Hi, Hello, Yes, No, if at all possible.

Yeah I've got the hi, yes and no's pretty well covered.

No I just meant actually names when I said name lines. But if you got names then you are covered. I have your Matt Damon and George Bush Soundboard and you did a great job on them, especially the Bush one.

never seen a soundboard where you can put someone on hold :wah:I've found a number of good clips to fill in the blanks from the first Home Alone, I'll get hold of the 2nd one tomorrow or the day after but I doubt there'll be a clip to put someone on hold unfortunately.
With the above in mind, I will put the whole songs you provided on the board if you like, I just wondered what the point would be. I like adding short-ish loops to give the board a bigger fun factor, but whole songs are gonna increase the size dramatically and I'm not sure it's worth that.

Make sure you check that out as well.

No need for a whole song - just get the best parts.
Given we're not that far from December maybe you could try to find christmas phrases - there should be some in the home alone movies? That would be great combined with the xmas song.

Yay :) I've got so bored of my old soundboards I even resorted to using your Frasier one today. Not that there's anything wrong with the soundboard - just the show I don't like. I won't be posting the call though cos I didn't know my way round the soundboard so it sucks.
That reminds me - please don't have a start button and/or intro music like the Geroge Bush soundboard and the Fraiser one - the music usually gives telemarketers too much of a hint and I have enough buttons to press as it is.

I wasn't going to bother with a preloader this time around anyway - too much extra effort :)

Okay, here's what the boards going to look like.
I'm still gonna do some rearranging of the buttons, but mostly it's a completed project.
As a time saver I did use an Andrew Baranyi board (guess which one) as a template, so you'll probably see a few resemblences. I do intend to credit him, but mostly it's all my own work as usual.
Advice, comments etc at this point will be useful.

PS. There are no hidden pages as per some of my boards - WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get)

I think the design looks great. I wouldnt worry about crediting Baranyi though, unless you want to make a small thanks for design inspiration. One thing I would change is this, the pic that has Joe's whole upper body, either make that smaller or cut it off at his shoulders to add more sounds. You should add the quotes from My Cousin Vinny unless I missed them. A lot of them are the popular Pesci Soundboard that can be found everywhere. http://www.ebaumsworld.com/pesci.html
The quotes are:
"Whats the best selling, single model tire, being sold in the United States today?"
"and whats the most popular size?"
"what the f*ck is your problem"
"what is I was just to kick the ever loving shit outta you?"
"thank you very, very much"
"You're getting fucked one way or the other"
I think the soundboard looks great though, what does the "Loop" button do?

I found a couple of the ones you asked for in reasonable quality. The following are ones I couldn't find though. If you can get hold of them, that would be good.
"Whats the best selling, single model tire, being sold in the United States today?"
"and whats the most popular size?"
"thank you very, very much"
"You're getting fucked one way or the other"
The loop button just plays a loop of some music.

Another classic line that's missing is "I think I want my money back"- that's gonna be great in almost any call. Also I agree the questions about tyres would be great, perhaps a clip of him laughing might be good too if you can find such a thing?

I actually did grab that 'I think I want my money back' clip from Casino, I just didn't put it in the board. An oversight on my part - I'll add it.
I may try and get hold of 'My Cousin Vinnie' to get those tyre clips, but if it's gonna be much effort I'll probably leave them out. The ones I did manage to download, initially as okay-ish sounding wav's aren't sounding that pretty once they come out of Flash in the board, so I may leave those out also. I appeal again to anyone who might have access to this movie to get in touch ASAP.
I have to say a laughing clip doesn't spring to mind, but I'll have another check all the same.
I'll be upping the board today (it's 0:10 on 16th here, now) or tomorrow.

Yes please, if you could that'd be great! :)
Just make sure you save them as high quality wav's. They shouldn't take long to upload even with that in mind.

I will make them and see how good the quality is. I am busy with work a lot this week so I may not be able to send them to you till Thursday or Friday. But wait for me because they board will be great with the My Cousin Vinny quotes. Email me some of your current sounds and I will try to match the audio. If I cant I will let you know.

Okay, I'll wait. I'm semi busy this week with work and various things, so Thurs or Fri will be fine.
I've been rendering most of my wav's like this:
44,100 or 48,000kHz sample rate
16 bit depth
Stereo
Fairly standard specifications really. But basically as long as they're wav's and the sound quality is pretty flawless then that'll be fine.

I will do it Friday night, but thats U.S. timezone so you may not get them until Saturday. Hopefully I can get the quality to match yours, if not then I wouldnt want you to use them cuz soundboards are only good when the audio is the same on most of the quotes.

As long as they're good quality wav's that'll be similar enough. My Home Alone clips come from AVI's and my Casino and other clips come from DVD. They sound absolutely fine alongside each other on the board.
I look forward to receiving the clips. I'll get the board up this w/end.

ok here is what I did, I made 3 different waves containg quotes. They need to be broken down into individual quotes, but I didnt do that yet because I want to make sure the sound, quality, and file size were ok. If you can break them down, then take the sounds you want. Otherwise I can as long as the sound is ok.
http://media.putfile.com/pesci-1
You may want to take all of these quotes from the 1st one, once you separate Pesci's voice.
http://media.putfile.com/pesci-2
This is the bar scene, has a couple of name quotes you may want to take, along w/ some lawyer quotes, and ass kicking quotes. "What if I was just to kick the ever loving shit outta you"
http://media.putfile.com/pesci-3
This has the 2 tire quotes "Whats the best selling single modle tire being sold in the United States today" and "and whats the most popular size"
You may also want the intro tire quote I added about 2 cars driving the XGV 75 R 14's.
You can use Audacity to edit them to take out the quotes you want, or I can. The only reason I didnt take the time to separate the quotes was because I wanted to make sure the audio was good. I can easily record these again, just let me know. Also let me know if you want any other quotes from that movie.
****Also, I found a site that will host your soundboard for free, give it a permanent home so you wont need to depend on sites like putfile. Its kinda like a collection of the best soundboards online, but its well organized. I actually submitted your Frasier Soundboard to the site awhile back and they posted it, well that was before I was aware that it was better to ask permission for that kinda stuff. Let me know cuz I showed the guy the pic you sent of what the soundboard will look like, and he knows who you are and wants to host it****

'Yes, I am here. But I'm in the middle of a speech right now, so you'll have to hold!'
