Just got back from the Canucks training camp in Vernon BC, while watching the guys go through their paces was cool and all, what I have to say stood out the most was before the “big players” took the ice.

One player Brendan Morrison (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/hockey/2003/playoffs/news/2003/04/22/blues_canucks_ap/t1_morrison_ap.jpg) recognized that there were hordes of little guys lined the entrance and exits of the rink for autographs, before getting suited up he came out talked to the kids signed their shirts, flags, pucks, napkins and anything else the children held over the railing. The coolest thing was he took the time to talk to all those kids, did everything but tell them to eat their vegetables and wash behind their ears.

Now this is the second time I’ve seen this player do this and I’m guess this is a pretty natural thing he does, he seemed pretty laid back about it and pretty happy to do it. All I can say is fucking A! What a classy player I wish more pro players took the time to remember the fans.

More over if more players are doing take the time to post share and recognize a class act.

Back in the 80's and early 90's, I was a season ticket holder for the Baltimore Orioles and after each home game, many of the players would sign things but as not much as Cal Ripken. In my opinion, he was more in tune and caring for the fans of Baltimore and Oriole fans than any other ball player. He gave his precious time for the fans who not only admired him but paid to see the team play. Cal is another class act.

I always heard that about Cal it’s good to have that confirmed. I'm not much of an Orioles fan I think it’s great these guys recognize the fans.

Great thread, Chewy. Its about time people saw how classy some professional/collegiate athletes are and stop focusing on the 'bad boys'.

Brian Urlacher gets a mention.
Steve Yzerman definately seems like a class act.
I think Dwyane Wade is as well. He gained my respect this season, and the interview last night during the football game helped.

I lived in Stevie Y's home town for a few years him and too other local boys Scott and Rob Niedermayer during the Hockey lock our a few years back had a few NHLPA benefit games to raise money to the local arena, rumor was they topped up the costs to finish the project.

Good guys.
