I'm going to have to agree, somewhat. I wouldn't call him the best rapper out of anyone, but when being compared to other mainstream rap acts like 50 Cent and such.. Nirvana is extremely over rated because they don't really have that many skills like he isn't that great of a guitar player and the songs aren't all that great. I don't hate them, just you are far from the truth saying that they make up the rock world, there are alot more bands better than them and metallica. Now metallica is pretty good, but like i said before, rockers were making hits way before they were a band. Nirvana may not be the most important band of all time, but they probably are the most influential. I dont care for Nirvana, never listen too there music. Yeah sorry about that. I like sabbath and acdc etc just as much if not more, but I just feel really strongly about people who slag off nirvana for two reasons:
1) without nirvana, all teenagers would be listening to shit and never have heard of rock
2) As much as people say Nirvana only get respect because Kurt's dead - they have always been big! Nevermind is the best selling grunge album ever - and that was BEFORE Kurt "killed himself".Over 10 years ago.

bands that arent tryin to send a message? how is sending a message a bad thing. if anything, all songs should have a message. u said people like 50 who make pointless songs for money dont derserve what they got, well if all those bands u just listed arent trying to send a message, they are obviously trying to get something, like money. in my eyes, music is all about the messages the songs sing. its not just about how cool a guitar solo sounds, its about what the band feels. pouring your heart into a song is a lot better than some cool notes.

Believe me man, you dont know how many bands in todays music there are that say Nirvana was their inspiration. I think you need to read the facts, Nirvana WAS "Crucial to the development of modern music" and that isn't an MY opinion, or anyone elses opinion...but a fact.....They changed music forever, and im not saying that as a fan, but a open-minded musician. Half of the Rock bands you like today wouldnt be here if it werent for Nirvana...and Nirvana wouldnt have been there if it werent for The Beatles....

Um, no those bands aren't, the lyrics are either elementary or just dumb, the instrumentals have minimal skill, and bands like slipknot are just "AHHH AHHHH FUCKYOU FUCK FUCK SLIT MY WRISTS KILL EVERYONE" and that takes no skill at all and sounds like vietnamese men getting their intestines pulled out through their mouths.

It may not have a cuss word in it, but just because it has an advisory doesn't mean it deserved it (and vice versa). I own an album (Seether's Disclaimer) that must have somehow slipped through security. It has several cuss words, it even has a song titled "Fuck It", and it has no advisory!! And on the other hand, one of three Third Eye Blind albums I own, "Out of the Vein", has 2 cuss words out of like 14 songs, and it does have an advisory. :rolleyes:
