Everywhere I seem to look, I see praise for Xbox and Halo 2 and console games in general. What I don't see is talk of PC games.

Let's talk First Person shooters for example. Console games require an annoying joystick to aim, PC requires a mouse which is 100x better and more accurate. Controls cannot be binded cleverly, and most of the time ergonomically, with controllers. There is no way I can press B and X at the same time with one thumb.

Or how about graphics? Games like COD are copied to console games and they look about 10 years out of date. PC game graphics are by far the most high tech.

Availability? If you want to play a certain game you need a certain console to play it. I don't want to buy a gamecube, xbox, ps2, wii, for whatever game is out there. PC games is one fits all (assuming your computer is up to date).

Cost? I know, a good computer takes a lot of money, but honestly, it's not just used for games. In fact it's just an additional pleasure of having a fast PC. Besides, console games are becoming ridiculously expensive. No way in hell would I fork over $600 for a ps3.

Gameplay. Playing the Half-Life series got me completely hooked into the world of Gordon Freeman. I saw myself in COD fighting for my life. I just can't get that kind of experience playing an arcadish Halo 2, whose realism and "physics" were worshipped.

Multiplayer. No paying for xbox live anymore. Typing is an easy communication. Endless mods and custom games available, and you can choose what you want instead of getting random maps/players all the time. I will have to give console games the prize for multiplayer with friends over. NFL Blitz 2000 and Goldeneye were the epidomy of console gaming.

With that said, I know many of you disagree on some of my points, and some of them have bias. I did do many console generalizations using Halo as an example, but then again it is the game that recieves the most overrated attention. But, a good poll would be a good indicator of the masses.

Another thing I like about PCs is that they're way better for strategy games. RTS games just don't work well with consoles.

Also, with a PC games there are a lot more user created mods that can improve gameplay.

One advantage of consoles though is that usually your TV is much bigger than you monitor.

you know... PC games use to be undoubtedly superior, but now console games have caught up. with the ability to go online and even use keyboard/mouse(only for PS3 as of now), they're practically the same. you have your give-and-takes between PC and console though.

PC gamers can no longer argue how much better their games are anymore, because there are lots of flaws people can point out. overall, both are equally great in their own way.

P.S. the playstation 3 is more like a PC than a console now.
-modders have total freedom just like with the PC
-keyboard/mouse use for gaming
-updates, patches, etc can be downloaded online
-future hardware upgrades available
-buy customized system
-can install OS such as Linux

I like PC gaming but my computer is crap. I use my 360 for all the graphically intense games and the ones that are exclusive to 360.

PC for FPS/simulation/MMOs (obviously), consoles for sports/adventure.

When I see the PS3 do well and be able to play it (many of my friends will get it) then maybe I will change my mind. Although some of the advances, such as blue ray technology, don't even have games that can reach its capacity yet.

For me the one great thing about a PC, that makes the big difference is the option of Piracy. Every now and then I'll do the decent thing and pay for a game, but for certain games I know it's not worth the E50,- asked for it, but I'ld like to give them a try none the less. In those cases I want to be able to download and play games and not have to buy them, without too much fuss.

PC games, generally, are far superior. but the pc doesnt have nintendo games, or guitar hero etc

you could argue, however, that consoles dont have FEAR and other badass games.

both are ideal

i feel pc is great for online games like counter-strike and WoW but consoles are cheaper in my opinion because you dont have to buy ram and video cards etc. while you can get an xbox and play without upgrades

When considering Online PC wins by FAR.

Console has at least some good single-player games.

Emulators.

And PCs have gamepads to do anything that a console can do. (I guess Guitar Hero is ONE game that wouldn't work, although I have played free games on the PC that play exactly like it with the keyboard)

What I'm hearing of this PS3 is that it's trying to become a better thingy for gaming by becoming more and more like a PC. There's almost no movement the other way. That says something, doesn't it?

After playing FPS games on consoles, I'd definitely say computers. But in all fairness, some consoles are compatible with keyboards/mouses (yes, the plural is mouses in regard to computers).

i dont like playing pc games because unless u got a good computer (and not screwed), the framerate and graphics suck

That's because the games you want to play are newer than the PC. Have you ever tried to play games on an outdated Console? I haven't, but my guess is that it doesn't work at all.

You can download a nintendo emulator and all the nintendo games on a PC. I even have a programmable controller for my PC to play all my downloaded console games.

Here's why I hate consoles, Call of Duty3 will only be released on consoles. Its on PS2 and XBox but not on PC, figure that one out.

As a multi-format release, Call of Duty 3 will be appearing on PS2, Xbox and all next-generation consoles, including, somewhat surprisingly, Nintendo's Wii. Surprisingly because, even if Wii arguably suits first-person shooters, Call of Duty strikes as one of the least likely to appeal to traditional Nintendo customers. Paradoxically, as of now, there are no plans for a PC release for Call of Duty 3, which may upset fans who've followed the series since its debut on the PC. http://www.pro-g.co.uk/wii/call_of_duty_3/preview-273.html

Its not being developed by Infinity Ward though, so its possible there working hard on something ;)

Anyhoo back on topic.

I love gaming on both PC and consoles, and obviously both have advantages and disadvantages. Things are starting to annoy me on the PC front, mostly down to hardware cost (Try building a PC capable of what a 360/PS3 is capable of with the money the consoles worth), and games usually coming out buggy or not designed with PC gaming controls.

Wouldnt mind seing how Vista/DirectX 10 and the "Games For Windows" scheme turns out though :)

Both have good and bad points.
Consoles are better for sports games while FPS are better on computers

i prefer the multiplayer experience on consoles, most recently four player co-op in GRAW has been fun.

Well ive only ever played on the PC, and only played abit on the consoels at my freinds houses. But far as im concerned PC games are better and cheaper. Especially if you have a top spec pc (which i dont :wah: )

Depends on where you are starting from. Scratch, $130 will get you a way nicer console than PC.

Consoles are also much better for casual gamers.

WFT? Consoles are DESIGNED for gaming! Why the hell would you get a console if you didn't want to get "into" the games?

I only like RTS games on PCs because they work well. FPS games and other genres fail on the KB/mouse. I mean, do people really like the horrible twitchy controls on the PC? It's not very immersive at all, especially consdering you use one hand to control the legs and one hand for the upper body. WTF?

There is no doubting that the KB/mouse is more accurate but I find controllers much more immersive and fun to use (seriously!). Like I said, RTS games are great on the PC. But that's about it!

i like pc games because almost every one is simple to play online, but unfortunately my computer sucks and is unable to play most of these games...but pc games are easy to mod and customize...

i like consoles because you never have to upgrade, whereas pcs are constantly becoming obsolete.
