I'm looking for the help of musicians. I've always wanted a guitar, but I never know where to start. It's just so overwhelming that I don't know what is good to have or not. I have a shit guitar right now, an acoustic, and I got it just to make sure I would be into it, and I am. I want to get an electric guitar and I need to know which guitars or brands or whatever would be good for beginners.

What type music do you want to play?
I think Jacksons are pretty good for beginners. They're quite cheap as well. My JS30 has served me well at least.

The only fender I have ever played that was nice was the Yngwie Strat. All the other fenders are overrated/overpriced.

The Sam ash I am by sucks. The people hardly know anything about the guitars. Check out Guitar Center and Sam ash. See which you prefer.

Get an Epiphone or Ibanez... I have a stagg. Great guitar, it does what I tell it too.

DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT by a shitty/ 99 dollar guitar... they are cheaply made and ruin the experience. Spend Around 300 for a good guitar thats not to extreme or w/e you want to say.

For the kind of music you play I think you should get an Epiphone, but don't go and try only the Epiphones and Shecters. Try out a bunch of guitars in your price range and see what feels best. Make sure you get a good amp also. Try out the Vox AD15VT or if you don't need that much power, a Epiphone Valve Jr. Try to stay away from the Marshall MG or AVT series. If you're into lots of effects try a Line 6 Spider. Personally, I think the Spider sounds too digital with all of the effects.

its really what you prefer, people say that squiers are terrible, but my first guitar was a squier strat, and i loved it. just try out guitars, and dont be afraid to ask questions in the guitar shop, everyone was a beginner once. i simply bought a squiers beginning set, came with guitar, amp, plectrums, lead and a gig bag, it lasted me well, even if the squire isnt the best guitar out there. DONT get a marshall MG amp, they are overpriced, and not very good amps. just explain your situation at a guitar shop, and im sure they will do a good deal for you.
good luck with your playing, starting guitar was one of the best things i ever did, probably THE best.
