They don't scream in Sad Statue, I-E-A-I-A-I-O, and Aerials.

System screams in their older stuff. But their new stuff isn't that good.

QFT. They started milking the "political rebel" views with the last two albums, and it just got really old

I actually think Hypnotized is their best album, although I didn't care for Mezmerize that much (Violent Pornography is a cool song though).

I remember a thread comparing them to Rage Against the Machine, so I'll say them.

In some songs, they play abit like Primus. And Primus owns S.O.A.D. So go for Primus.

Yeah, it got way too out of hand. That's why I love their old material. Just raw and in your face. They have changed a lot over the years.

They screamed in Toxicity and their self titled album, which are obviously their best two albums. Steal This Album had some screaming but there was significantally less of it, and it is still really good. Mezmerize was an ok listen, and Hypnotize just sucks.

Anyway, I can't really think of any oter bands like SOAD. They're pretty...unique.

Listen to Dog Fashion Disco. Very cool SOADish band without the political bullshit. Most of their albums have a storyline, so it's best to listen to an album in it's entirety. I recoomend their newest one, Adultery. You're welcome.

I think SOAD was political in all of their albums, the only difference is MTV and radio stations didn't play them constantly like they did with BYOB (which wasn't a good song to begin with).

Its tru .. They changed alot since the first album ... I still enjoy Mezmerize and Hypnotize ,but their older stuff is obviously better.

im not trying to advertise, but check out pandora.com for that sort of thing....you type in a band, and it'll play a bunch of songs from bands who sound like system of a down. if you were to type in black label society for instance, you might get pantera or something...that kinda thing. its given me so many bands that i listen to now

Anyone who thinks SOAD was only political in their later albums doesn't know what they are talking about.

I'm not saying they weren't in their older albums, I was just saying that they started using the whole theme of "anti goverment" and such too much in the later albums. I do have to give credit to Serj for losing a lot of weight though

try fear factorys archetype album. has the so called "deepness" which you misinterpret as heavy metal and has decent vocals.

HMmmm I can't explain myself to well.

OK so I like how fast paced and the heavy sounding instrumentals are.

Also they don't scream/grunt ecseviley[horrible spelling] like trivium or bands that all you hear is aaaaaaarararararhghagh

I would like those bands if you could understand what the hell they were saying.

Anyways i will check out bands you have said.

And whereis the only artists i like out of that group is jeru.

Metallica
Megadeth
Dog Fashion Disco
Mr, Bungle
Celtic Frost
Black Label Society
Venom

If you think System of a Down is fast paced and heavy than you are obviously not that much into metal so i kinda outlined it for you.

He just mixes up "intensity" with "heavy". Hopefully he learns more about generas of metal.

Well it's certainly not what the OP is looking for but I know firsthand that at least Dre, Mobb Deep and Snoop slaughter SoaD. F'sho/word is bond/etc
