Miami and FIU are essentially right down the road from each other, but UM has a rep as a powerhouse football school, at least it did until recent years.

This was to be the first year of a two-year deal to have the cross-town rivals play each other. Think about it--Miami is the upper crust, and the scrubs that didn't get a look from Miami went to FIU, a commuter school for the most part. They've played each other in other sports, but it was a first for football.

I believe there was a shove or two during the warmups that was the spark for it all--just the players crossing each others' paths while going thru drills. But the guys who came with helmets swinging and stomping their cleats should be kicked off the team and out of school. Period. And after all that--Miami was pumping their helmets as if the fight were some kind of rallying cry. Go figure.
