It looks awesome. I'm definetly looking forward to this movie alot - it has really great visuals such as this (http://www.imdb.com/gallery/ss/0319262/Ss/0319262/DAT-277.jpg?path=gallery&path_key=0319262) . :)

I didn't actually see it yet, but I heard it actually wound up sucking. Let me know if there's any validity to that preposterous allegation...foo.

Decent effects - It was okay. To get the most out of this movie, make sure you see it in the biggest screen you can. The funniest part is when the US evacuates to Mexico and Mexico closes the boarder.

If you listen to critics, then you might as well stick your head up a blue whale, because someone shit in your ear and called it a brain.
I'm wanting to go see it sometime, whenever I get around to it. Looks good, anyways.

I just got back from seeing it and it is INTENSE!!! I dont know what all the bad ratings are about because this is the best movie of 2004 yet!!!! Awesome special effects, amazing acting, and just an all out crazy movie!!!! Go see it before the stupid critics convince you not to!!!!! (and Jake Gylenhaal is a hottie)
EDIT: I forgot to add how amazing the story is!!! It really kicks! Did i mention how hot Jake Gylenhaal is in this movie?!?!

I havn't seen it but yeah the critics are really trashing it. I'l probably see it and like it because I'm a fan of crap. Hell, I thought Wild Wild West was good so you know I'm not credible when it comes to judging movies.

When people say that the acting was bad is when i really think theyve misunderstood the movie. If you were to look up disaster movie in the dictionary you would find descriptions such as cheesy dialogue, and less developement of characters. The acting was still very good, all the cast was amazing at what they did. This movie handled the typical disaster movie rules very well, and toned down the cheesiness on it. This was very good acting, and okay dialogue.
NO OFFENCE, BUT NOBODY WANTS TO HEAR AN OPINON OF A FAG
Next time you guys are going to be such retards, try not to make yourselves look like such fools. Just chill out everybody, your acting like seventh graders.
I will buy it when it comes out.
With out a doubt, i will too! This is on my list of the top ten greatest movies ever!!!

just got back from watching it.the effects are really good in it,the tornados were really smart.the story line was a bit crap though, too soppy in some places, and the end was a bit cheesy with the grins.
i would give it a 8/10. :)

You might be the most ignorant person on this message board. Everything you post is absolute shit...
Anyways, I saw it last night and it was O.K. Did anyone else notice the striking similarities to ID4 though? At least plot wise that is. I know there are no Aliens in DAT but everything event wise is the same as ID4. Oh well, still worth it to see L.A. go down by the twisters I thought that was cool. The tital wave seen in New York was O.K. I thought Deep Impact did a better and more convincing job of destroying New York though.
who were you talking to there?

I just saw it today and the effects were good but sometimes it as really stupid. If i had to give it a rating id ive it ** 2 stars( there wasn t a resolution!)
whataloser
05-30-2004, 10:35 PM
I think the resolution was the "rebirth" of Earth. and a chance for the suriviving humans to change there polluting ways. I believe that to be the message of the movie. could be wrong.

Why can they take their face masks off inside this building when your skin will supposedly freeze instantly after exposure to the extreme cold? If it is -150F or whatever, I doubt that Quaid and that other guy would be able to stand the cold for even a second of two.

It's a movie, movies don't have to be entirely fictional. It's just the picky people that point out everything wrong with a movie that makes it seem bad.

I went tonight and really enjoyed the movie. Seeing my hometown Hollywood being annihilated kind of got to me though. I think the effects and destruction scenes were well worth sitting through the lousy side-stories. (i.e. the father/son relationship...the cut on the girl's leg...the cancer patient kid) that we really didn't need.
I'll give it a 7.5 out of 10. I could have used some more desructive scenes on a wider spectrum than the 4(?) cities shown.

The movie had some amazing special affects, good cinematics and great overall visual captures. However, Dennis Quad was such a bad actor in that movie sometimes I actually felt like he was reading from a cue card off camera...just terrible.
Oh and that hole cold air think was cool and all but so unrealistic. But still really cool.
it was a OK movie.
The acting was some of the worst i've seen in a mainstream movie that i can remember, and it was too much of a 'feel good' movie for my taste.
most hokey moment: Dennis Quad looking into the camera and saying, "I made a promise to my son, and i'm gonna keep it". That was so gay it had me laughing out loud.

I saw it. It was decent. It had a lot of very interesting plot holes, but if you don't think about it too much and enjoy it for it's special-effectsy face value, you'll enjoy yourself.
