I voted for Plant. Led Zeppelin is really one of about 3 bands on the poll that I listen to a lot. He has great vocals nevertheless.

Freddie Mercury

yeah, definitely. Though I voted for Plant, but only because out of the choices he's probably my favorite.

A bunch of the other's are good though.

I actually had Patton in mind before i made the thread, but when i made it, i came up with the first ones to come to my head.

Ill put em on a future one though.

Mike Patton, but I chose Robert Plant.

Bruce Dickinson. He's simply my favourite vocalist ever.

Followed by Mercury, Gillan, Patton, Akerfeldt, Staley, Plant, Barlow, Fogerty, Keenan, Tate, Garm, Halford, Renske, Gildenlow... etc

Brucey Bruce! :raiseeyeb

Actually I'm seriously in love with Messiah Marcolin right now. A sa-a-a-a-a-a-a-ad stream of silver, a mourning man's go-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-old!

Am I the only one that can't stand Dickinson? I admire his ability, but I just can't stand his voice and I think he sings with way too much vibrato.

It was a dead heat between him and Bruce Dickinson. Saw both live and they both definately hold up.

I voted Bon Scott.

Am I the only one who loved Kurt Cobains voice?

it's kind of strange, imo, that plant is winning by such a measure, since he's the only thing that holds me back from zeppelin

Well some of my favorites aren't on there, but Reznor is, so I voted for him :P. Sounds even better live to me, haven't seen many shows that good live either.

Am I the only one that can't stand Dickinson? I admire his ability, but I just can't stand his voice and I think he sings with way too much vibrato. Personally, I like his over the top style because of how it fits in with the group as a whole. To pull off a song with lyrics like those of "The Number of the Beast" or to avoid being overshadowed by screaming dual guitars, it's needed.
it's kind of strange, imo, that plant is winning by such a measure, since he's the only thing that holds me back from zeppelinIn an action I'm sure nobody is surprised by, I voted for him as well. He's abrasive, I'll admit, but that just adds to the overall confident style and swagger of the band. If you can get past the innate reaction to hearing his high-pitched notes, and to his tone, you'll be able to appreciate the mood his voice helps create, and the genuine vocal skill the man has.

Because of Bruce Dickinson's awesomeness, I bequeath upon you all, this video. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=FP9GWmyz5xI&mode=related&search=)

It's a video of him covering Tom Jones - Delilah on some gameshow.
It must have been early days for him.

Bon Scott.
Sure, Dickinson and Plant may have better voices, and some of the others may write better lyrics (Tool, RHCP etc) but if you've got a down n dirty rock band, you want Bon Scott fronting it. From that list I think he is the most complete rock 'n' roll frontman you'll ever find.

I mentioned Gillan earlier. He's one of my favourite vocalists ever - and one of Dickinson's favs as well.

Child in Time is simply the greatest vocal performance ever. :p

My favourite singer ever is probably Matt Barlow (why wasn't he mentioned yet?). Ian Gillan is also a great singer, or at least he was a great singer.

Also unmentioned:
Layne Staley
Chris Cornell (Soundgarden stuff rather than Audioslave)
David Wayne (R.I.P.)
Hansi Kursch

Hansi Kursch

Indeed. He's my favorite. Also, André Matos of Shaaman, ex-Angra (AKA Elderane the Elf from Avantasia :D ) and Tony Kakko of Sonata Arctica.

I voted Serj, but none of the choices would be in my top five, maybe not even in my top ten.

Daucus Karota
11-30-2006, 09:45 AM
none on that list

but I voted for Kurt Cobain

Blue Lightening
11-30-2006, 09:47 PM
I voted Keidis cause I like the Chili's lyrics and because Ozzy Ozbourne, The guy from Dire Straits whos name temporarly escapes me, Eddy Vedder, The guy from Counting Crows WNTEM, Axl Rose, Noel Gallagher, Phil from Pantera, Freddy Mercury, Guy from RATM, Billy Corgan, guy from Steriophonics and Sting weren't up there.

How can anyone like James Labree? For fucks sake he almost spoils DT.
