Damn, i've seen photo's of what happens to people when they get sucked into those thing. It's like food down a garbage disposal. Shouldn't they put something over it to cover up so that doesn't happen? Like a cage type thing?

FAWK! That must have been one helluva trip. I love it when people survive accidents like that, makes the story worthwhile.

I believe that would impede the functionality of the aircraft. I think in designing planes they take into the fact that both the mechanics aren't stupid enough to stand in front of a moving engine; and that the pilot is smart enough to not start the engine when said mechanic is there. Meh...sucks anyhow. :uhoh:

actually, they do have covers for intakes. i used to work on fighter jets, and we had these huge fence things we put over them, however that was only for maintenance reasons. they take them off before flight. matter of fact, we were shown that video on school as a warning. and yes, he should have known better than to get in front of the intake. working on the flight deck is dangerous, you have to keep your head on a swivel.

I know it's old and I know he survived I was jus wondering why they didn't cover them. That was also answered just now.
