I never thought I'd have the chance for one, but I found a really good deal and almost bought it, but I found something I liked a little bit more... Just don't plan on buyiong a brand new one, that's just stupid, they're way to much for what they are. I'm 6'6" and could barely even fit in the one I was test driving...

the fuck...going from a renault to a viper?!?!? that's like moving from a run down double wide into a mansion.....

it's called reality people...don't drool for the filet mignon on the menu if all you have in your pocket is barely enough for the glass of water and side salad.

Yeah get a porche instead, and then you can look real cool after taking it in the ass down at the turkish bath....

porscha

hey man, almost bought a camaro instead but bought 924 because it was in better shape and liked the way it handled. vipers okay, but it lacks the handling ability a car in its class should have. The V10 is pretty much starved for any extra horsepower and at 450, thats a pretty small amount, considering that many other cars can easily reach 600+ with minor mods.

Porscha's aren't my thing, I like some of the nicer ones(hate the boxter though) but I don't know what you are saying that you can't get any extra power out of the viper. I've seen quite a few running with around 1000rwhp.

Tex

from what ive heard they are hard to do minor mods to. the engine stock is already pretty thoroughly bored and tuned. thats just what ive heard tho.

Wow, I'd go for Viper over a porche any day... Not a fan of the body styling they have, that and the fact that they're really not that fast for what you pay for them... I got my Trans-Am for a good price and after adding the supercharger there's not a lot around here that can take it, let alone any of the porche's I've seen, and it's still cost less, after mods, then a porche would have...

Paxton... You should check out Dv6cougars (http://forums.tunercarz.com/index.php) and check the forums there, we're trying to get more people for all cars

dude, dont get a viper. Theres lots of other more conventional cars out there. Nice ones too if ur willing to pay, but dont get a viper. Two seaters for starters. Bad gas mileage. I forget the exact price at the moment but they're about 80 grand. Not to mention insurance and all. I dunno, get one if you like, but if I were you, theres lots of better ones around.

When I lived at home one of my neighboors had a viper. Great acceleration... but the handling is a bit sluggish, coupled with its low ground clearance... I would prefer a coupe for real driving.

If by chance any of you live in Austin TX, Vipers cant drive on roads like old spicewood springs road (off of capitol of tx hw). Which is incidentally, where I used to live.

seems like any car with any kind of sports suspension can't be driven on city or country roads anymore without bottoming out...hell, there's a shopping center in dallas that i USED to go to that put speed bumps all over the damn place...and I scraped the bitches going 5 MPH!!!! that's ludicrous!

Hey that's cool, Austinites rock! You are right, those cars are waaay impractical esp. if you live in a place like Austin with roads that are cool to drive but not necessarily easy.

My buddy owns a 01, bright yellow, that motha is sweet, total traffic stopper. It doesn't have that much more get up and go than me, but man that torque is sweet. That extra 100ftlbs or so makes a big difference. :D Felt real solid when I drove it, definately on my short list of cars to own in the future. For the money no other car gets the attention that a viper gets.

oh yeah, and it was a blast cruising around Daytona in it last spring break :D :D

Dodge is making a motorcycle with the viper v-10. It has an estimated top spped with rider of 400 mph, if u r crazy enough to go that fast.

A Viper SRT-10, with 500 HP, is a great deal for 80K.

A Ferrari 575M has only 8 extra HP, but costs 235K
A Mercedes Benz CL55 has less HP (493), but costs 115K

And I know those are up-market brand names, but the Viper still wins in the dollars per HP category.

Oh yeah, Dodge is going to put the V-10 500 HP Viper engine into the Dodge Ram truck. That will be a fast truck! (I guess they want to compete with the F-150 SVT Lightning).
