I've been meaning to pick up some Megadeth recently and I was wondering what would be some of the best Megadeth albums to start with? I know most of you guys love Megadeth so help me out.

A good beginner's album would probably be Rust In Peace, it seems to be the favourite amongst most people new to Deth.

After that, go for the earlier records like Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? and for some great classic thrash: Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good!

If you wanna check out a newer Deth, go with Countdown to Extinction and Cryptic Writings.

I dunno...just download them all....:bigwink: :p

Personally, I think they are alright, but a little too hard for me.

Yeah I might just download them all. I'll finally be able to do this since I'm finally getting a new Hard Drive tommarow. I'll check out Rust In Piece right now though.

Rust, just for 'Holy wars... The Punishment Due' That is my favorite all time Deth song. Also, 'Hangar 18', 'The Five Magics', and 'Poison Was the Cure' are all awesome.

For newer stuff, Cryptic Writings. Every song on that CD is awesome.

I'm learning to play Holy Wars on acoustic. :p
More specifically, I use it for practice.

But I agree - Rust In Peace is a good album for someone new to Megadeth.

My personal favorites are Rust in Peace and Killing is My Business, but any Megadeth album is a good one. However just stay away from Risk.

On a side note, so I dont have to make a thread about it, has anyone heard the new song 'Gears of War'?

MEGADETH - GEARS OF WAR (http://media.putfile.com/megadeth---gears-of-war)

I love it. The only thing that takes away from the song of the verse. It sounds kinda like Youthanasia, not one of my favorite albums. However, the intro and chorus are fucking kick-ass!

edit: forgot you cant download off putfile, so if you want to download it, go to the Megadeth website (http://www.megadeth.com) and up on top where it says 'download demo' right click and save as

I found the new song to be a bit boring. It wasn't bad, but I was expecting better.

At the moment, I think my favourite Deth album is Killing is my Business. But really anything between that and Countdown to Extinction is great stuff.

You need to stay away from that Rust in Peace CD, also Master of Puppets by Metallica, or Number of the Beast by Maiden, man they suck.

Peace Sells is by far the best Megadeth album, followed by Rust in Peace.

Everything else is pretty mediocre.

Rust in Peace, Criptic Writings and The world needs a Hero...Hidden treasures is great once you have those three. Also, Rude Awakening is a truely brilliant live album.

i got introduced to deth from the album rust in peace. after that i was hooked. anyone heard the remastered versions dave mustaine put out. didn't like them. it seemed dave decided to sing over some of the original track and there are parts that seem to have been touched up using modern tech. i prefer listening to them in their original format.

Youthanasia isnt Deth at its best... its a good album, A Tout Le Monde is an amazing song, but its a more poppy Megadeth, not raw thrash like earlier albums.
