What's up,

I need some help. Here's my setup: first, I would like to just get to know you...Allright, seriously. First, the output of the soundcard is connected to the the microphone input of my 56K voice modem. That way, anything that comes out of the sound card should go to the phone line. Second, my speakers are connected to the speaker output of the modem, so I can hear the line. When I play sounds from the soundboards though, its completely garbled. You can hear distortion on the line equal in duration to the time it takes a particular sound bite to play, but that's it. The sound is getting to the phone line, just not properly. I tried jiggling my wires and stuff, but no dice. If anybody knows what the deal is, please fill me in.

Thanks

Well, hmm..what do you mean garbled? Is it garbled only when you try playing it through your phone line, or is garbled when you are just playing the sound period? (as in, the sound itself is garbled)

best bet is to replace it with a new one.
