So I own one of those Japanese version of Super Nintendo, still works and have like 20+ games that half of them aren't even released in the US. Does anyone know where to get a replacement cartridge slot for the console and the bits needed to open the case? Also a few of the game's battery died or are dying so how do I replace them without erasing my saved game, like hook up a dc power supply parallel to the battery's circuit?

btw those game savers don't work with this Famicom due to the different slot shape.

I have a super famicom that my girlfriend has had in Japan since she was a kid. She brought it over when she came to study English. Anyways we only have like 8 or 9 games but they all work well. You must have put some serious play time on those games.

I'm not sure how to replace the batteries without erasing the saved data. I don't even know if it's possible. You'll probably need some type of adaptor to do it though. If you try and any of the games break though, just order another copy from Japan. They run from 50yen to 2,000yen. So they're very cheap.

You can't fix it, just send it to me. Actually I'm looking for a Super Famicom, because I really want to play Populous 2, but even with my Super UFO copier it refuses to play on my US system.

What is wrong with the slot? Most work fine with a good cleaning and straightening of the pins. For the tools to open it I just went to my normal tool supplier and they had a set of secuity bits for just about anything.

If the battery is dead then you saves are gone no matter what, for the dying ones you may be able to rig up a temporary supply in parallel while you swap the batteries, I don't worry because my Super UFO can also dump saves to floppy, even on a Super Famicom.

The cartridge slot is worn out due to years of playing when I was a kid, every now and then when I turn on the console it displays nothing and most of the time erases the saved data on the games. The only data I'm worried about is Secret of Mana, in which I've gone to the highest level in everything. I'm not sure if this is the console's fault or the battery inside the games, but I figure installing a new contact slot AND replace those batteries are the best idea.

I suppose they're worth quite a bit on eBay in the US?

As far as I know, no one makes a replacement slot, the parts are discontinued, you may be able to find one of the surplus dealers that have a few. I think the slot and games just need a good cleaning and they will be fine, maybe straighten the pins if needed. I seriously doubt it is worn out, I have a few SNES's that have seen a lot of use and a good cleaning was all that was needed to bring them back to new.

They aren't worth that much, anyone who really wants one can get one, I just don't really want one that bad. The games, depending on what they are, might be worth a little bit, but is isn't too likely. A quick check of ebay says $75 for a boxed system and around $25 for a loose system, slightly more than the going rate of US systems.
