Metroid series is infact, under rated.

Metroid is not over rated. It started a new era of "adventure" gaming. Before Zelda, metroid was released. You must think 1986 when it comes to these old school games. Because it was something new and revolutionary.

As for Doom, it was very revolutionary for 1993.

If you put Zelda: OOT as over rated, god help your soul. Speaking of Zelda, Twighlight princes is seriously becoming one of my favorite games of all time.

For a game to be overrated is for a game NOT to live up to it's hype regardless of Difficulty (Set the shit on the hardest difficulty setting if it's too easy first go round). For example: PS3 is overrated.

1) God of War
- This is the greatest action game to grace the PS2 and one of the best action games with an original story-line in years.

2) Final Fantasy 7
- This is by far my favorite RPG! It's story, graphics, and game-play were (and still are IMO) unmatched for it's time.

3) GTA: Vice City & San Andreas
- Rockstar's masterful creations of original content and life-like stories; recreating the Russian & Italian Mafias, Gang Life, and Street Crime into a game. These are classics!

4) Tribes
For the PC? This game was friggin' awesome before the player hacks came.

5) EverQuest,
The first MMO to hit 1 million subscribers and it set the standards for MMOs to come! World of Warcraft, Vanguard Saga of Heros, City of Villians & City of Heros (+ more ) all try to live up to the magic EverQuest brought to the table, but none will ever have it's luster, appeal or shine.

Ive played WoW since it came out, got it on its release day. I have one 60... I have a few 40s and a ton of smaller levels. Ive raided for maybe a grand total of 10 hours..... I still find Wow fun and riveting

I don't know why people bash SotC so much... it's a really fun game. Great, fun gameplay, not as repetitive as people say it is, because the collosi all have a completely different strategy to beating them. Nice graphics, minus the sometimes jumpy framerate. Great musical score. Also, it's so fun, you'll want to do the fights again (especially number 13 :) ), at least, I did.

I agree with Oblivion - I like the game and I've almost finished it twice. But it's nowhere near the best RPG ever like some people claim it to be - it's as if people have completely forgotten about what makes a good RPG. The RPG elements of it are fairly flawed. Not to mention, the storyline isn't very strong, isn't immersive and the game becomes very repetitive. I still like it, but it's definitely overrated.

I've never understood the hype around CS. Sometimes, it's ok to play at LANs if someone's computer sucks balls - it has low system requirements and is quick to load up etc. But it really is a crappy game IMO. It seems to be 'Spawn, shoot, shoot, die" repeated a thousand times.

I do like AOE2 though. I thought it was a great game.

I would say that overhyped and overrated are 2 different things. Overhyped being the Molineux effect (Theme Hospital, Black and White, Fable). Overrated being Deus Ex or Yars Revenge.
